When people write their eighth-grade graduation speeches all about how they're "moving on into the real world to apply all that they've learned." Yes, I know that some of them will not go to or finish secondary school, but most of them do.

1. You still live with your parents.
2. You're just going to high school. You're not moving to Boston and becoming a chief executive of some macro-monopolistic corporation. You'll probably have to write the same speech again in four years.

When people confuse their homophones and homographs. Not only messing up when they use such words (homophones: e.g. carrot, caret, carat [also karat]; homographs: e.g. bow, sow, hail), but also confusing the terms "homophone," "homograph," and "homonym."

When someone pronounces a word so poorly that you're almost certain he/she spelled it wrong in his/her head.

The fact that so many of the replies to this topic (including mine) consist mainly or entirely of dependent clauses.

The fear that I may be replying inappropriately to a topic. On that note:

I don't believe you thought that one through far enough. In the 3000s, there will (theoretically) be a 3001, which may be abbreviated to 01. Therefore, simply adding "/01" would do no good if you want to specify the millennium of the date.
Try "/2001". You can add an "A. D." before it if you would like, and perhaps write it in other calendar formats. (That's just there in case someone wants to get all "Well, in that case..." on me, though I now fear that I have forgotten something...)

On that note: The fear that I will be harshly reprimanded and consequently shunned if I do stray too far from the topic.

On that note, perhaps people will be confused in the year 3000 because they no longer rely on a monotheistic 3000 year old death cult and a book to guide themselves. Then the whole christian calender will look confusing. Either way, worse things have happened, do happen and will happen so I'm sure they won't think about it too much.

Food edition:

-When the Chef Boyardee is stuck in the can and refuses to come out.
