Building an beautiful house.. Need help! :)

Hey guys! I've been messing around online for about a week, just having fun. I build a very neat house in single player and I wanted to bring it to multiplayer so everyone could see it. The problem is that I need some diamond ore to protect the property and it's far too expensive for me to just buy. Is there another way I can get it?

Depending on how much cash you have, you could combine several lapiz or coal ore protection stones to protect your area. It does become a hassle to add members who help you if you need it.

While having a diamond protection stone is a good idea (even if you have a small house), you could combine lapiz and place them in the corner of your house to get the maximum protection.

The real question is, how many blocks across is your house?

Are you talking about the Classic server or the SMP (I assumed SMP because of the question).

Lapis ore is too expensive also. I'm not sure how everyone else got so much money but several real-time days of digging for iron only got me about $8k, which I have to use for the building materials. I measured the lot and it's about 18d x 25w x 12 h. I'm using coal ore temporarily but I can't use it permanently because it's not high enough and gets in the way of the furniture and stuff.

You can place the protection stone anywhere, on top of your house, in your house, or under your house.

Hey thanks for the help everyone, appreciate it! For now I can just use the coal ore until I have enough for diamond.

@ryan: Well I want my entire house protected.. including the roof. That means the blocks have to be placed half-way between the roof and the floor. It looks kind of silly and you can see it in plain sight but I guess I can live with it for now.

According to my research, protection stones cover the area on all sides of it. So doing the math, a coal ore would protect five blocks above, left, right, behind, infront, and below the protection stone.

If you would like, I could trade you a lapiz ore for 10 diamonds (just a suggustion).

Exactly. At this moment I am using 4 coal ore for my house + 2 more for the farm in the back yard. I sold a ton of diamonds to some dude the other day so I'm all out for now.
