It's just a damn shame for those who are affected by this.
Those affected by this quite simply set themselves up. If I were you, I'd stop arguing; and unless you can come up with a 110% legitimate reason this shouldn't continue, stop instigating this debate since it's clearly not going anywhere.
Coming from someone who is probably most effected by this, I'm gonna have to agree with Moses. We really did set ourselves up. Also coming from someone most effected by this, It's a good decision. I love Opti's economy and want to see it remain; this move is a hard choice, but the right choice to see that the economy remains. Whether or not the economy was the point of the server or not, it has become deeply ingrained into it and is a very important part of many of the players decision to play here. Therefore, if removing ingots will help preserve that, then it is a good move.

Maybe now would be a time to take a look at adding a new mod to the server that will create player run markets... I know this has been talked about lots in the past but maybe its an option now.
the problem with that is that the chest/sign shops (i think you are talking about those) would be spammed everywhere. a better solution would be to create a special area where you can buy some land to build a shop, but that would require coding, and at the moment we dont have a dev.
That would be ideal, if we can find a way to do it.
Having to advertise in the trade channel is quite cumbersome.
Having a way for players to create shops would be amazing on this sort of a server. One of the biggest attractions to this server is the economy. The iron and gold farms are not good for that economy so lets set that aside. The economy is an amazing part of Opticraft though, as well as the markets. It is true that allowing players to run sign shops could become problematic, however there are solutions to those problems. The idea of defined locations is one great idea. Others that come to mind is limiting the amount of shops per player (shops = signs). Further more requiring that players log on regularly or the shops will be invalidated and the signs removed; therefore preventing thousands of abandoned shops. The opportunity to build amazing attractive structures to entice people to shop at your store would be further beneficial to the server both aesthetically and socially. As to the dev problem, there are several players capable of coding/configuring something like this, myself included.

I have been playing with Mopar since I believe he first started. From the get go he seemed pretty mature. Plus he has a good sense of humor and is pretty good at the game!

LOL. Of course I support my wife! But seriously I would have any ways! She is more helpful to other players than most people know. I actually met her because she was helping me.
Plus she's a great builder and really loves the game.
I think it'd be awesome to have her as a mod, even if I didn't know her in RL. It would bring something amazing and valuable to Opticraft!

Supported.
Nhataley is one of the most trustworthy players I've encountered on the server. I don't think I've ever seen him lose his temper. He always acts 100% mature and is very helpful. He is also a very talented builder.

Were you recommended by anyone?: Many mods and some ops have voiced their support to me. But I'll let this application stand alone
Why you should become a moderator:
Level headed and calm, I like to look at situations and make decisions based on fair judgement and reasoning. I'm very patient with players and like to help. I typically let others help, so they know they are part of something, But if I see someone not getting the help they need I will always jump in.
On top of my positive attitude and having a cool head, I'm also very knowledgeable and a great learner. I'll listen and accept the help of current staff, using their experience and trusting their abilities. My own knowledge and experience will be a great benefit to Opticraft as well.
One benefit to having me as mod, is that I promise all situations that I must manage, will be handled professionally and fair.
In the past I have been hesitant to apply, partially because I didn't think I was known enough to get it anyways, And also because I was very busy. Now I think I might have enough support, and I have many hours on most nights to dedicate to the server.
If you allow me the opportunity I can show you this is all true.

P.S. As an edit, I thought i'd include that I have extensive experience with most basic plugins (ess, Logblock, LWC, vault, etc.), and even hook into many of them for my own code from time to time. I hope that helps.
Thanks everyone for your support! These are some awesome players who are fun to play with!

If would please every one. I can design a switch in the farm that will turn it off while not in use. Would this be a fair compramise?

on a side note. the shear amount of torches it takes to prevent endermen spawning. will also create a lot of client side lag to people who don't have particles turned down

Really arsenic you don't understand bukkit code very well. Moving it will not decrease lag. All worlds work on the same server and the same loop. Moving it will not change that. An idle piston requires no more cpu than any other standing block. in this farm 90% of the pistons are idle 90% of the time. The decreased spawn rate/ mob movement is an issue becuase there is an increased amount of players on the server as a whole, and 1.2.4 is buggy any ways. I have some plugins that will decrease this lag signifigantly if I could be heard out to describe this. But bottom line is that idle pistons and a few melon slices is next to nothing compared to players and mobs. in fact it takes nearly 5 working pistons to create the same delay in the loop as just one mob or player. And thousands and thousands of idle pistons. I promise that farm is NOT the source of lag. the source of lag is the number of players and the number of mobs. That is the fact.
There are other farms and redstone devices that create lag. ones that cycle thousands of pistons every few seconds. this also will be creating lag. My farm does not work like that. Also please stop ignoring me. It is childish, rude and pathetic.

First. The pistons/melons/ everything about it will not load if no one is close enough to load that chunk. second, you should probably learn the distance on chunks that load. it is probably bigger than youthink. The farm is WAY far enough away it won't laod at main land. The exp farm is not. Third melon slices do unload. actually they only stay there for 5 minutes
if no one is there. it won't run. if it isn't running it isn't causing lag. block updates on ly happen on laoded chunks. regaurdless of the cause of them. Finally entities cause WAY WAY WAY more lag than idle pistons. since idle pistons only get checked periodicly where as entities (endermen) get check EVERYTICK)
Please go learn minecraft code before you do anything rude

ABOUT THE "lag"
The melon farm in Enderopolis is as far as melon farms go VERY LIGHT WEIGHT. In order to understand ou need to understand how block up dates work. First block updates happen NO MATTER WHAT. a piston is treated like any other block when an update happens. it checks for state. the ONLY time a piston takes up extra cpu is when it is activate. otherwise it creates little to no more usage than dirt. IF AND ONLY IF a melon is present the block is updated. otherwise it is looked over just like any other block. this is the trugh on how minecraft block up dates work. If any one gets lag while in the end or the nether is is client side based on particles. not cause of pistons.. If you don't beleive me learn java and tear the code apart as I have done!
