Suggestion Collection

Hi, I've been suggesting new additions to the SMP server for a while using discord, so I decided to make a thread that collectively presents all of them:

Chair Plugin
This plugin allows the user to sit in a chair (or slab). A "chair" can be activated through possibly placing a sign either side of a stair, or by turning into a chair with a command. This could be a perk of higher ranks, or for everyone.

Coloured Signs
This could be either a donation perk or rank perk, but it's self explanatory, the user will be able to create signs that have coloured text on them.

Mob Heads
Mob heads could be dropped, with a very low chance, when a player kills a certain type of mob. This is possible by creating custom drops, and setting them to be custom heads that would be set to a certain mob type. (This maybe be difficult for mobs that don't have a head with a 1:1 ratio, but still possible).

Player Heads
When pvp is added, we could add something where there's a 1% chance that that player's head will drop, and this could be used as a trophy for killing certain players. It COULD also be 100%, depending on whether pvp is popular when it's added.

Player Particles
This could again be a donation or rank perk as it's purely cosmetic, and although I'm not sure whether this is particularly resource demanding, players could buy/unlock their own trails and that would appear around them in-game.

Custom Paintings
I've seen a plugin where you can find/create an image, and bring in-game by using maps. The maps would then be placed on item frames, and it creates a low-resolution (but still recognisable) version of the image you specified.

Sign Permissions
Having signs such as [Disposable] (you place items in it and it deletes them), [Warp], and [Heal] (couldn't be a donation perk, and not necessarily "game breaking", but you could unlock it at a high rank), would be another feature that would be could and enhance game-play slightly.

Mod Review System
This would consist of a discord channel and/or forum section where players can submit certain mods to the admins (such as a chest sorter plugin), and if they are deemed appropriate and don't give the player an advantage, then they can be added to an "allowed mods" list, or otherwise into a "banned mods" list.

Economy
An economy that is solely item based would maintain itself. For example, a non-farm-able item, for example iron ore, was sold at $1 per ore, then we would have an economy that couldn't be broken by huge farms, and if we don't allow any other item to be sold, then this would create an economy that would be fair for all players. Essentially, iron ore (or a similar item) would be the sole currency in opticraft, and therefore only players that really work for it by mining would succeed, and the economy would maintain itself.

Player Shops
There's a plugin called shopkeeper that allows a player to create a village. The player can then load the villager with items they want to sell, in return for other items. This means that players can set up their own stores with villagers selling different things, and they wouldn't need to be online for them to trade. This also adds to the self-maintaining economy, as it eliminates the need for an "admin created" shop. If something similar to this was implemented that would be cool.

Amplified World
This is a world that would be created for resources, so the current isn't completely stripped of it's resources. It would be reset possibly at the end of every month to allow resources to be replenished. It could have a smaller world border than the current one (2000x2000?).

Custom Spawners
There's a few options for this, we could sell spawner types (zombie, skeleton etc) for vote points, give access to /spawner, and each rank gets more and more mobs available, and also possibly add animal spawners (sheep, cow, pig, etc).

If you have any other suggestions that you want adding without making a thread, msg me or reply here.
Feel free to comment on the ones you'd like to see added, or the ones that you disagree one, and if possible reasons why.

Thanks!

Hello!

I don't think we send any emails out, and even if there are you can turn them off.

Why do you want to account deleted?

I definitely agree that Opticraft's dying, but it really doesn't have to. I've noticed that Minecraft is still going strong, even being around for years. I second the opinion to add more features --as in plugins-- to make the server a little more immersive. I've seen some really low-impact plugins such as being able to sit on stairs and store books on bookshelves that makes things a little more functional. I would also suggest easy and free ways to advertize, but a lot of this is just common knowledge. It's just a matter of someone actually making the effort to do it.

Yes! I'm happy to help with the promotion in any way that I can, if we all chipped in we could really get opticraft going again

Suggestions / Ways to increase player count

Hello c:

I've thought of a few ways to get a few more players on the server:

1) Creating Threads
Many servers do it, and I'm not quite sure why opticraft doesn't. Create as many threads as you can on different minecraft forums around the internet, and then ask players in game to constantly bump the threads, possibly offering rewards for doing so. This will make our server thread right at the top a lot, and it will be one of the first servers there. I made a thread on minecraft forum a few days ago, and instantly noticed 3 or 4 people joining each server (not much, but the thread was buried pretty quick from other servers doing this and it wasn't being bumped, and this was only on one forum).

2) Purchasing a "featured server" position.
Another good way to attract some more players would be to buy a place on minecraft forum (or similar)'s featured server area, hundreds, maybe even thousands of players see these each day and I believe that it's worth the invesment as new players would donate too!

3) Fixing that god damn voting glitch
The glitch is still there where if you fill your name out, all you need to do is click the links to recieve your in-game rewards, I'm sure that some players still exploit this bug, and it's stopping the server from properly getting promoted on the voting websites.

4) Listing the server on more voting websites.
There are far more websites that offer listings than the ones that are currently implemented, I don't even think some of the most popular ones are even available to vote on for opticraft. Again, making more websites available will increase the amount of players that see our listing, therefore increasing the amount of players on the server.

5) Offering rewards for voting on ALL the websites
Some players might just vote on the odd website, or forget to vote on a certain one, if we only offer rewards once the player has voted on ALL the websites, then we can be sure each of the links has been clicked.

6) Other things
- Adding more features (although I know the upper staff are reluctant to do this).
- Update the voting pages as some of them still say older versions.

Opticraft has been dying for a long time now, nobody can deny it, and I think it's time to start focusing on the promotion aspect of the server to try and revive it. Please let me know your opinons for each option [:

Suggestions / Re: Access to logblock

Secondly, since the change of server provider logblock on creative was wiped, thus we now only have records since the changeover, thus most things won't be counted.
Not sure where you got this info from, only guest 9 was effected.
So it could be added?

Suggestions / Merge SMP & Creative
« on: July 26, 2016, 05:19:45 pm »
I've a quick look on the forums and I don't think this has been suggested before, but I think it would be cool if SMP and opticraft were all one server. Not only would it be far more convinient to switch between the two servers, but also players from both servers would be able to talk to each other easily!

I'm not quite sure how much effort this would be, but if it's minimal then it's defiantly worth the outcome.

Thanks!

Hi :D

I think everyone should have access to logblock (or whatever the plugin is). I've been zooming around on creative a few times and seen a cool build, and wanted to know the creator, and since there's usually no staff online I wasn't able to find out. Obviously no permissions would be given for rolling back, but it would be convenient to be able to see who's creations is who.

Thanks! :D

Yeah it's definitely possible, I was just thinking it would make it a bit more fun, but I see that the admins wouldn't go for it :P

Suggestions / Custom Spawners
« on: July 23, 2016, 08:10:24 pm »
So, I've seen this on a few servers where the players can purchase different spawners at the market, and they would either buy a certain type of spawner or buy one and use /spawner to customize it.

If the price for spawners are high, then it would give players another thing to work towards, and also enhance peoples bases that aren't alredy built near mob spawners. Perhaps players could donate for certain types of spawners, and they would come in packages like the disguises. This is obviously not a massive addition, but I believe it would make smp more enjoyable!

Thanks :D
