Ban Appeals / Re: Ban Appeal (/home death trap) Banned by: Mr_Mr_Mr

I was pointing to the fact that the common sense rule is arbitrary, i.e. "because I said so."

A tip for future appeals, use examples that are pertinent to the situation.  Don't bring up duplicating when it's not relevant.

Another tip, work on your reading comprehension.

I've already explained my actions.  Refer to my other posts.

Once again, I didn't give excuses, but explanations.

Also, the common sense rule is very vague.  Just a thought.

This is where your home was set, it was a lethal fall.

Yes, I agree; I have never disputed this fact.  Please refer to my previous posts.

I'm not exactly appealing my banishment.  I'm more so explaining why I did what I did to express my opinion that an infinite banishment is too severe, perhaps.

And you can claim that it is "easily abused" but you were the one banned for it, along with every single other person who has tried to abuse this system.

I was not arguing that because it's a feature that is easily abused I shouldn't be banished; I was stating that I was in disbelief that something so easily abused was in the game. Like I said, moments before my banishment I had learned of the feature.

If you dont want anyone near your home, why would you join a somewhat heavy populated server?

A lot of the fun in minecraft for me is the idea that building a home in the wild has the potential to be stolen from, so I like to hide my house to the best of my ability.  I play with the threat that a player could stumble onto my home and steal my goods/loot.  It makes the game more of a roleplay, and I find this aspect to be one of the best.

To further explain this, I think that the risk of building a home that has the potential to be griefed/theived is fun.  I enjoy hiding my tracks and staying on the "down-low."  This aspect loses it's fun when people can transfer to your house via non-consensual teleportation.

Also, my post was more of an explanation of my actions and less of an excuse for my actions.

Thanks,

I received a permanent banishment from the server today for making my "/home into a death trap."  I had just recently discovered that players could travel to any other player's home (/home) by simple means of the /home command.

With my little experience in minecraft servers I immediately questioned this ability. It seems to me that this ability, to instantly teleport to another players home, could result in easy, undetectable griefing/thieving.  It's an option that should perhaps be opted into and not something that's default.

This leads me to my explanation of the "deathtrap."  I wanted to see if something so easily abused would be put into the server (I was in disbelief that it would work).  To justify my actions (somewhat), this function directly goes against the fun I get from the game because people are easily able to find my (not so secret) home, SO in order to stop players from randomly teleporting to homes there must be a check to balance that feature.  By creating that death trap of a /home I could argue that I was reducing players likelihood of teleporting to players homes that they do not know (which adds a unique aspect to that feature and overall gameplay).

With all that said, I'd really like to see my permanent banishment reduced to a less than permanent one.  I will no longer abuse that feature in the game.  I would like to have an option to not partake in that feature, however.

Thank you,
