Projects and Creations / Re: My public wheat farm!

I like the community supported agriculture business model, though I think your prices are to high to get much participation. I think you may want to restructure and just optimize your farm, and then sell the wheat directly.

Maybe even open up a bartering system where people can trade bonemeal or any other resources you could use for wheat, bread, cake or cookies at some favorable and reasonable exchange rate.

I am curious if people would be into creating a rail system starting near the spawn area that has routes to all the major communities. Maybe this is something that could be free for everyone to use if they are trusted or above?

Even though we can warp to different places, I think a rail system would give people a better sense of where things are in relation to each other which might lead to more appreciation for overall Composition and help people not just build as randomly. A rail system might also be a fun/interesting way to see (and showcase) different peoples work.

I think another thing that would be cool is to identify and create Protected Wilderness Areas in various places in the map. This way some of the "Natural" landscape is preserved, which can lend to a better sense of place and visual style for different projects and communities. Also if there are any particularly interesting cave/mine systems that are full of monsters and such, it might make for an interesting destination.

I've only started playing on SMP for the last couple days, so if these ideas have already been discussed and thought about let me know. If people think either of those ideas sound fun or worthwhile, I'd be into helping out.

Offtopic / Re: Dream Jobs?

I'd love to be the president of a communist nation.
A true communist nation has no president.

Leader should I say then?
No leader, everyone is equal. The USSR was NOT a true communist government.

I like this discussion about communism, might I suggest this video about communism from khanacademy.

Also, my dream job would to be someone Who speaks for Earth, and continuing to chop wood and carry water. Most probably in the form of Renewable Energy Engineering.

"As they were unloading on the beach they came across some natives and a tiny village.  It was then resolved that the natives should be sold off into slavery and traded for addition supplies, and so it was done. "

... not cool  >:(

General Discussion / Re: Pce

I think there are some people in our community that could learn to communicate and disagree in a more civil and respectful way. There are also a couple of choice individuals that attempt to project an air of knowing everything and speaking for the server as a whole. I'm not at all interested in calling people out, mostly because I have no interest in participating in drama as some people are willfully immune to reason and/or any sort of critical feedback. Worse there are those that are being jerks on purpose because they think it's funny, it makes them feel clever and superior to other people (see:troll).

However, not saying anything and seeing people leave over... misunderstandings and unchecked lameness ...irritates me. For my part, I would like to be part of a diverse and creative community. I find it relaxing and fun to see people be creative, all the drama and nonsense, I could do without.

That said, just because someone doesn't agree with your point of view, doesn't mean they are close minded or that they represent the server as a whole. Also, I think people that show their feelings are much more admirable than those of us that are more callous and cynical. However, being thin-skinned will not serve anyone well in life. So, I don't recommend trying to misconstrue my condemnation of trolls as advocating for being a ninny.

It also might be useful to consider the concept of the vocal minority vs the silent majority. Anyway, I've probably written far more than most will bother reading or will turn out to be useful.

People, be decent to each other.  >:(

Since there are a lot of people building cathedrals and such I thought these NOVA programs on Building the Great Cathedrals and Secrets of the Parthenon might be interesting to some people. There is also this decent Physics of Stone Arches interactive associated with the show on cathedrals.

I'm color blind... mostly red green and a bit of blue-yellow. I've done web and graphic design for over 10 years and have taught myself how to functionally distinguish colors by hex values and other means. I find it lame that anyone would attempt to use color blindness as an excuse for lack of creativity or effort. Even if by color blindness you mean complete monochromatism, that would still have no relevance to your creative ability.

No, people that easily give up, tends to not give a good impression on admins.
