Aether Mod
« on: May 28, 2012, 02:50:11 am »
I recently downloaded the Aether mod, which is awesome btw, but it also came with the toomanyitems mod. I'm not sure whether I can get back on Opticraft without getting banned for mods; how can I get on the server without the mods?
I have "player phases." I've been a Zelda guy, a gangster guy, a Quagmire guy, a Bane guy. Now I'm a Rick Astley guy. :D

You can still get on the server with mods. The server just won't recognise the mods.
So you can get on the server with mods because it is client side. You won't get banned, if something was to happen it would likely be a kick. Nothing at all to be worried about.
All the moderators in smp use zombes mod pack so don't worry

No mods are allowed on the server whatsoever except for Optifine.
Even if the server doesn't let you use them, you should still not have them.

One thing you can do is use a fresh jar file whenever you're coming on Opticraft.

I suggest you download a separate jar file for when you play on single player or whatever is is you use TMI for, and when you play on Opticraft

TMI is merely a way to type in /give on SSP. The command is blocked on Opticraft.
(except for op+)

I don't see the problem with the aether mod (Adds blocks to the game, which is physically impossible in SMP (Unless everyone had it)) and TooManyItems, which is permenently disabled in SMP:

oh... you cant have tmi? I have it but I pressed "O" so it doesnt even show for me..
TMI is merely a way to type in /give on SSP. The command is blocked on Opticraft.

I do wonder why this server's attitude to modding (The reason why people actually play Minecraft) is so stiff.
It is no Water Shaders all over again.

I agree with you Claw, I'm just stressing out the rules.
Now, I do agree that mods that give advantage to some players should not be allowed.

Then why do we use Optifine? It increases the FPS so another advantage and also it makes the hd texture packs works, another advantage and also Optifine has a zoom feature and another advantage. I'm sorry but it is stupid that we can not use water shadders mod, we are not using x-ray here... I think this rule should be reconsidered.

Salas this is nothing personal I just wanna know why a rule like this exists...

Check it out! ;)

You can have offline mods like aether or the moon. Theese work only for your game offline aka clientsidE. For you to use them online on any server you need 2 things 1. You to have them 2. The server to have them.
Now as claw said TMI will not work on the server. At the TMI download page it sais you have to be in the op list to use it.  So fear not, you are not getting banned. If you still have doubts, do what salas said and renema your current .jar to something like minecraftaether.jar and let it download a new one. So everytime you want to play you have to swich the names of the files.

Well, I don't really know how to make only single player mods, BUT I do know how to delete them (if thats what you want)  NOTE:  This is ONLY for Windows 7
1. Go to the Start Menu
2. Type (in the little box thingy) .minecraft
3. Click on the folder that says .minecraft
4. IMPORTANT!!If you have any texture packs, screen shots or stuff like that, move that OUT of the .minecraft, to a safe place (mabye your desktop)
5. Delete EVERYTHING in .mineraft
6. Re-open Minecraft and wait for it to update
7. Your mod has been deleted!
