Ok, so you want redstone ores for decor and not to be griefed? Why not simply say "I don't want silk touch picks to be enabled on redstone ores"
You could just protect it with with a pstone afterwards!?

Anyway, I'm in agreement with the rest of the posts.

It probably wouldnt be hard to do, just not nessisary and a waste of a protection stone.
But like I said we could use emerald ore for it instead.
Again, it's a waste if it's only going to protect a 1x1x1 area.
Then make it so it doesn't protect 1x1x1...
That's not what was being suggested in this thread though. Let me refer you back to That Goalie Guy's post:
So what if we set the default radius of redstone 1x1 so people dont grief it.
He wasn't suggesting it to be a protection stone, we was suggesting it just to be a building block which is protected.
I know you could make it larger than 1x1x1, but like I said that's not what he was suggesting..

I don' t mean make it protect more, I mean make it not a protection stone and block instead

In order to do this, we'd have to find a comparable replacement block for the redstone ore, and, frankly, we're not really going to be making any changes if it's only going to benefit a few select individuals or groups.

If we're gonna make any changes at all, it would have to fulfill the requirement of how it will affect the majority of the community/ server. If only a few people are gonna jump on a given idea, it tells us that the rest of the community doesn't care as much, and that's a little unsettling to put in a new feature only to find out that the majority doesn't really pick up on it.

Why would we need a counterpart ore if we wont use redstone as a protection stone anyway?

Redstone ore is a protection stone, by default. That's why.

In 1.5, there willl be a redstone block, which i could use instead of this.
