World edit.
« on: February 05, 2013, 03:44:42 am »
I am going to try to make my best argument on this.  Currently operators and up can world edit I believe, but this is unavailable for players to ask for.  It would be very helpful if the operators would use world edit to move structures in my opinion.  Think about it.  I do not think players should get land cleared or built.  I'm only asking that we're able to move structures.  And I'm also not asking that players will be able to get an operator to world edit at any time, but if there application is passed.  Here's some reasons supporting my cause.

-the old guest world might be deleted in the future and there are many nice builds suck as b1uej0kers hero brine keep.
-many areas with nice builds are becoming over crowded.
-some builds are just to big to move or there is many resources already invested
-I bet I can get 75 supporters and more on this topic
- feel free to add reasons

If this idea was considered here are the guidelines I think should be followed
-One cannot simply ask for a build to be moved, but they must apply for it
-Each build to be moved will have its own application even if the two builds are close by.
-every builder must be in on the move
/unless absent for long period of time
-structures should be under a certain size. For example 100•100
-only a person with the ability to world edit may accept or deny application.
- land where the build is going to be moved to must be flat and exceeds the dimensions of the build
-please add more as they come to your mind

But the operators admins and such may work out the details if this idea passes.
In response Joshua to your comment about it being difficult.  It will be difficult to get the application passed. And also please elaborate on how this takes away the aspect of survival. Ya this probably should be moved sorry about that.

• Operators+ can't use World Edit for personal reasons.
• Old world won't be removed.
• This removes the little remnants of the survival aspect we have left.
• From my experience with world edit, it's pretty difficult, and I would say, "cba"

And judging from the:
"If this idea was considered here are the guidelines I think should be followed"
"But the operators admins and such may work out the details if this idea passes."
That this is a suggestion, so, will someone move it? I can't.

Like Josh said, we can't even use WorldEdit for ourselves, so that's pretty much ruled out.
Applying for it could work if we wanted it to, but applying to have buildings moved just ruins the point of destroying and rebuilding your things.

Also, we do use it to help people. Occasionally we'll need to place large amounts of water or lava.
There is a problem with moving blocks though, that being there is no block history on the building once it's moved, which could be a problem.

Most off the staff aren't to good at moving builds since they don't do it very often ( no offense guys/gals ) not to mention its just generally a pain in ass to get everything to line up and then u gotta blend it into the terrain or it looks like crap.... Not to mention if you're copying a mined out area then ur just destroying a good area by pasting it... Oh and if the world gen algorithm changes they can't just repair the place it's being copied from which creates a whole nother mess....It's just too much of a hassle..... And tbh most people would just prefer to build something new anyway......

The applications aren't a problem, it's what I and the other few also mentioned that I said would be difficult, specifically Tiggy. He explained the vigorous tool that is World Edit and how difficult it is to work. This takes away the little bit of the survival aspect, because in survival, you don't (unless you use mods) magically move things around. You have to take things down manually, climb up to the top of a building, possibly risk dying and losing all of your stuff, and then having the worry of running to your home to get your things before someone else does. You feels me brah? If you just watch someone move it, it's handy, but no fun. You get a better feeling of appreciation for what you do when you do it yourself with hard work and worry in the back of your mind that you will die and lose your stuff lol.

And he didn't say being an Operator isn't easy, which it isn't, he said using World Edit isn't easy.

Not supported. This is unnecessary. Like Tiggy said, move it yourself. Too much of a hassle for the ops who already have so much to handle.

The only reason worth adding this would be that i built an enderman farm 600 blocks from the mainland end and recently 4 other farms moved like within 60 blocks of mine, cutting almost all spawning. Other than that, play legit. Even though ppl did that this isnt needed
