National Sports of Ireland: Hurling
« on: June 18, 2013, 03:55:24 pm »
Hurling is a great sport in Ireland that is widely celebrated and publicized on nearly all forms of media! I have told one or two people about hurling but they made no sense of it, so I'm constructing this so people understand the rules and the gameplay.

The Game Itself
Hurling is a sport that origined back to the time of the Celts. To play hurling you need a few requirements, safety and gameplay wise!
Helmet:
Hurley:
Sliotar(slit-her):
Shin Guards:
Finish it off with boots, and for extra safety gumshields, and your ready to go!

Hurling is one of the most skillful and fastest sports in the world! You need to have serious gut and determanation. You will get smacked with the hurleys! You will cry, no matter how tough you are. If you get hit with these at full force, it will be serious pain. The sliotar is also extremely hard, like a baseball. The sliotar itself is a thick leather ball, with softened leather around the outside! Avoid to get hit by these at all times!

This is an example on how fast professinal hurlers can play!

You don't have to watch the videos in full but much appriecated if you watch 7 minutes of each or something :D

Rules:
There is TOO much so I'll leave you with a link to all the rules of hurling!
Please do look up online as well to see if there is any local sports teams that play hurling and try it!
