Did you know that the visual "tail" of a comet has nothing to do with its direction of travel? Rather, solar wind pushes it so that it always points away from the Sun. Speaking of comets, comet Ison is scheduled to come around the sun on the 28th, becoming extremely bright, obviously for my birthday on the 29th. You can see comet Ison now in the eastern sky about an hour before dawn, it's bright enough to see with the naked eye, but much better with binoculars or a telescope! Anyhoo, back to the counting I guess.
