Pfft, 12 year olds? Please. Books do not have an age restrictions on them. If I want to read six page book, then god damn it I will! (Also, that is a fantastic series, good catch.)

Try the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riodan.
Or perhaps "The Paladin Prophecy".

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Series- Douglas Adams
Ender's Game- Orson Scott Card
The Giver -Lois Lowry
Around the World in Eighty Days- Jules Verne
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea- Jules Verne
The Time Machine - H.G. Wells

And here's a few from the modern times, more geared towards our youth because of all the teen angst, superpowers, aliens, etc. Nevertheless, interesting reads:

I Am Number Four series- Pittacus Lore
World War Z-Max Brooks
City of Ember- Jeanne DuPrau (I guess I'll recommend the rest of the series too, but I have not yet read the rest)
Little Brother - Cory Doctorow

And finally if you're into kid's book series:

I definitely support the rest of the series mentioned in the thread already including Divergent and Percy Jackson. Do not be alarmed, the Percy Jackson series is way better than the horrible excuse of a movie adaptation. I'm a strange reader btw. I often hop from one series to another and don't always finish the series until i return it a year or two later sometimes. So I apologize if I did or didn't recommend an entire book series, I just haven't gotten to it yet. As you can see, I'm interested in science fictions and fantasies.

alexandre dumas, kind of hard to get through but books like the three musketeers and the count of monte christo are worth it
john steinbeck, of mice and men and the acts of king arthur and his noble knights are worth it.
Jean m. auel. specially her first book
a book like jungle book, dracula and watership down are always good too. while we're on dracula, frankenstein is an amazing book too. jules verne with around the world in 80 days is good too

and well, whatever is mentioned before is mostly worth it too. i left em out cause they were names so much already.

Kinda like and episode of Doctor Who (Not one with parts) They Have A Story And Then Its Over After The Episode.

All of the characters are picked by fate to presume the roles of The Incarnations Of Immortality
as you may have noticed the names next to the books (Except Nox, God, And Satan) are greek or latin.
meaning that that is not the actually name of the person. So they are regular people who then become chosen.
How They Get Their offices
Death. Death Takes The Souls of People Half Good And Half Evil to be examined to go to Hell or Heaven. So when the predecessor comes to take the soul the person can kill them. Meaning They Then Become Death.
Time.
Time lives backwards so when he is born (or at his conception it is never clearly stated) he drops the Hourglass and someone must take it or there is no time.
Fate.
Fate chooses the next person for office when one person gets boored of being fate. So they grab the new persons hand. and then become the other person.
War.
War dies when all war on earth is over. So when new war starts up fate comes to a person and they become war.
Nature.
Nature controlls all things living. But can choose to vacate the office at any time.
Evil
Evil dies when someone kills them by using a greater evil than the person is.
Good
Good has to be voted off of the Incarnation by a unanimous agreement by all of the incarnation. Same with a new person becoming good.
Night.
I have not yet read this book so idk.
