If you don't speak epic title  ;D, then let me tell you what I want...

A long time ago (up until the days when the Redstone update only just came out), I used to skin very nice people and give them to people, but I can't do that now since skincraft (the skin editor I used to use) refuses to obey my will. Me, the skelly some of you were familiar with, was of course, to say the least, a little ticked off (note: millions died that tragic day...).

Now I am in need of a new editor, and after being out of sync of the minecraft universe for so long, I have no idea which one I should invest in, so I need you, my fellow Opticrafters, to suggest that most advanced and reliable skin editor you have ever laid eyes on!

Note: it would be appreciated if you can give me a description (brief or lengthy) about any of the editors you recommend, thanks!

Note 2: please don't bring up Photoshop, as I have already tried it out.

Online skin editors are bullshit.

Try MCSkin 3D. The interface is pretty self-explanatory. Little size (around 3MB) for you to download.

Oh, and just clarifying this now:
1. I would absolutely love an offline skin editor that works (wone had the right idea)
And
2. If the skin editor is guaranteed to update for the skin update, I will not kill and reanimate your pet puppy as my zombie slave  :D ;D.

Skin update, as in the asymmetrical arms and legs?
Sadly, MCSkin3D hasn't had that built into it yet.

and joke's on you, I don't have a puppy.

_____________UPDATE_____________
Apparently MCSkin3D does support 1.8 skins, I am yet to figure out how.
You can start fiddling around yourself, and perhaps tell me when you figure it out.

What is GIMP?
Don't take my word for it, but from what I heard is that it is a free, worse version of Photoshop

I have taken the liberty to do some research on the aforementioned software, which is MCSkin3D. I figured out on how to edit and/or make skins for 1.8.

TWO ALTERNATIVES
1. More tedious:
You will  need to obtain (here's one of the sources) a template of the 1.8 skin layout. Paste the downloaded png file in the skins folder of the MCSkin3D directory. You should see the template in the list on the left when you run MCSkin3D. You can edit the skin from there by duplicating the template every time you make a skin.

2. Easy as can be:
There's a tab on the top right corner with the default being set to [Human].
Click it, go to Mobs -> Passive -> Human ( 1.8 )
This is recommended when you want to start from scratch.

I hope that the instructions are clear,  wouldn't want anything of yours getting stuck in the ceiling fan.

Nova Skins (look up on google) or miners need cool shoes 2 (also find on google). Sorry forgot the links. But these are my favorite. Nova skins has a lot of options and more complex while miner shoes is nice and simple to use.
