Hey, as there are other gamers here, I guess you have attended a LAN before.
A LAN is when you connect several computers to a local network.

Have you ever attended one/going to?

In my case this easter, I am attending a LAN with around 5500 computers. The event stretches out for five days, and costs 200$.
The download per second is 100gpbs, which is 43200 TERRAbyte if the internet capasity is under 100% load 24/5 (http://www.gathering.org/tg11/en/news/48/56/Record-speed/)
Here is a video from last year :D : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebXdbdxnAtg I recomend you to see the whole movie.

At The Gathering you can do about everything, there is free candy and soda (coke, sprite, solo). You can learn programming, 3d arts and music. (there are dedicated gurus for it 24/5)
There are competitions within both gaming and creativity. prizes in everything, and a total of over 20000$ in cash prizes.
Live bands perform there, djs play, and there is live wrestling as well. The people who are there are simply awesome, and you will NEVER be bored :D.

English site for the LAN : http://www.gathering.org/tg11/en/
