New event?

Opticraft hasn't had an event since Xmas and I think it's time for another. What do admins think? And what about everyone else?

Easter is coming, we might start early if we want something nice like a lobby done before that

First of all, please establish an agreement about if you want an event. Starting planning small bits of something which is yet decided weakens your cause.

When that is said, there has been some, very short discussions about a new lobby.

Lobby world Pros:

• Looks impressive to the new guest (No ugly towers/holes/etc upon login)
• They immediately become familiar with commands such as /join and /worlds
• Can look more "professional" then just a straight up guest world, makes the server seem more serious

Lobby world Cons:

• Can be confusing to first time players - don't know what to do where to go, may just quit.
• World has to be well thought out and designed, otherwise it will look cheap/half assed

If you can plan and build a good lobby, give us a wink.


As of having a lobby as an event, I disagree. The lobby is the first impression on opticraft. I do not wish to disrespect anyone, but some builders are somewhat less desirable as builders for the lobby. In other words, it should be a locked event, where the planner invites a chosen group to help him. He will of course have access to the cuboid commands.

Hmm i want to do the lobby, as i asked you already. If you can give me the ok to start planning, i will do it right away. I have a trip this weekend so i can work on it on the 4 hour drive.
