I think that once people prove themselves as builders, being an effective collaborator should be encouraged. Personally I think it would be rad and potentially funny to see a time lapse video of a whole team of builders creating something together.

I love the fact that you are actually thinking 10 steps ahead on this project!  You know exactly how many different colors you need, got your minecraft formatted palette set up, know exactly how much space the image occupies, and you even use shadows to add more shades to the colors (which is a method I WISH I had thought of :P).  If it were just me, I would've blindly started on the project without even considering most of these factors at first.  But then again, I'm just a reckless nice guy.  ;D  Can't wait to see the finished product!

Don't think of me that good, I forgot couple more stuff :P For example, steps and logs have a different texture on the top as well :/ As I was working on it, I thought of adding grass as well because that's also only visible from the top. While at it, I added cobblestone, bricks and TNT too, just to test them at first, but if they turn out to be good, I'll just leave them in.

I got the new pic ready, only thing I'm worried about is that there are lots of brick-blocks in the face. I'll do a small gradient to see how the colours match, then decide if I let the bricks in or not.

Uhm... first of all, sorry :P you haven't read what for yet, but that's about to change ;)

so.. the floor palette is wrong :/ To be exact 62 colours don't match the colour you see in-game. Turns out I missed the fact that leaves and water let light through, so the blocks beneath them do not get shadowed. The water can be fixed by placing another block of water on top of it, but the leaves are screwed. So I'll be changing the leaves and add the new, lighter water. We can still keep the old water since there's a way around it. I'll probably leave the Notch as it is now, but we'll have to redo all the parts where there are unshadowed leaves.

No, for I'm going to start over :P Also, if you want to see the progress, visit art, but be quick, it won't be there for long. Anyway, the palette and the pic are ready, so tox, you can start on the shadows again :/

Turns out gimp can only handle palettes up to 256 colours, mine is now 432 colours, so I'll have to think of an other way to do this :/ Anyway, here's the palette. I hope photoshop can make use of this, or otherwise I'll have to try my best at making my own image editor. :/

Tox, how about you just convert the palette to PS the usual way, then optimise the pic with it. We can still open it in Gimp afterwards and it should still notice the colours. Would save me a lot of time :P
