Here's some music that's better than you. Sure, we do cool stuff with online building blocks, but this is what real art sounds like.

I like how you labeled it "real art" There is no such thing as fake art. Art is art no matter what.

I like how you labeled it "real art" There is no such thing as fake art. Art is art no matter what.

The location of the line between arts and crafts is dependent on the one who draws it.

I knew a painter once, she made awesome works of art. They were vibrant, powerful, and abstract. In these paintings she told the story of her life with color, shape, and texture. But they didn't sell very well at the local art show. One day, she decided to paint a generic red barn in a green field under a blue sky, with a stream to the side. It challenged nothing, it expressed nothing, it wasn't art. To her, it was nothing other than a Xerox copy of the same scene she had seen other people paint a thousand times. At the next art show, the painting immediately sold for a couple hundred bucks. She came home and painted ten or twenty more of the same thing for the next art show.

I also knew a potter. Of all the glorious things he was capable of making, what actually made him the most money? Xerox copy coffee mugs. After a while he stopped making them himself and had an apprentice do all the work. The people who bought them up thought they were getting interesting and unique works of art, but they weren't.

Writers aren't much different. The vast majority of 'best sellers' written these days follow a precise formula for plot. Some of these are so tired they work as Mad Libs. Change a few names and places, and voila! Next 'best seller' sequel!

So why should we act surprised when musicians follow the same concept? Genuine art is hard to make and harder to make a living by but following a trend is comfortable and profitable.

It is all art. Art is the expression of ones self through various methods. Sure the more elaborate paintings were better than the standard ones. But all of them are a form of art. If i draw a stick figure on a wall, that's art. Art does not have limitations, whether is be genuine or profitable, it is still art.

And just to keep this thread on topic  Dream Theater- The glass prison

Art is in the eye of the beholder i guess... Each person decides for themself if an object is art or a lump of clay.

Awesome song, give it a listen

and loads of more 80's 70's 60's and even 50's. Not too many songs that are good these days in my opinion, so I stick to the old and good ones.
