Holocaust memorial day
« on: May 02, 2011, 06:31:24 pm »
Today, in Israel, is Holocaust memorial day for Israel.

I want to share with you some feelings that I feel about this day, about the pain, the suffering, the hell that the Jews went into. You maybe will never feel this pain, but it is engraved inside not only the inside the Jews, but inside everyone. Noone should forget what happened in the holocaust.

I had back in September a trip with my grade to Auschwitz. When I got to the place outside there, it felt empty and cold. Birds weren't singing, as if they too are giving respect to what happened in Auschwitz.
We sit in the railway where the train brought the Jews to Auschwitz, and the Instuructor told us this -
"The Nazis were normal people. They would wake up, make food to their family, make a sandwich to their little girl to school, and went to kill the Jews. They would help their kids with their Homework, and went to kill the Jews. They would make love to their wife, get tired, go to sleep, wake up and went to kill the Jews. I ask to you, what were they thinking?"
But the most touching moment, in my opinion, is this - we went with a Holocaust survivor to the room where he would sleep. It's dark and spiritless, as our laughter suddenly stopped. The instructor started to tell the names of the people who died in that very room, all the grade was crying. Even the strongest men, broke down and cried like little kids. It was the closest you can get to actually be in it.

I want you to remember, and respect the people who were murderd on that same time, who fought for their survival. Their will never be a holocaust again.

death is something to be respected, not something to toy with. the nazis never thought of respecting it, they used it. this is the reson why i will always hate the nazis, and respect the jews.

i hope there will never be any group like the nazis.

Well unfortunetly the nazi's do still exist... Yet not with quite the extremism of the 1930's version

Is it me or  is it ironic that a mass murderer (binladen) is killed on the same day

Bin Laden was not more of a mass murderer then any other big world leader. It's just the point of view that makes them heroes or bad guys. Not saying what he did was good, but it's really the motives behind it that matter. As of the Nazis, they had no motive, they just wanted to clear the world of 'lesser races'. Bin Laden wanted to stabilize the countries in the Middle East/North Africa and rid these countries of the dictators that ruled there by attacking the west (dunno how this would help though), which is on itself a noble cause, but could have been done in a different way, like the demonstrations that recently overthrew the government in Egypt and Tunisia.

I'm sorry for all the Jews lost, what the Nazi's did was terrible. I hate what they did, and I hope they're having fun burning in hell.

The only reason Bin Laden seems so bad to americans is because it was americans he killed on 9/11. When comparing him to the likes of people like joseph stalin and other dictators this guy was a saint.

But none of this compares to the travesty that was the holocaust. As long as us humans are a race, no will will ever forget what happened.

Monkey, I see your point, but the Nazi's point was for pure antisemitism, and you can't compare what Ben Laden did to what Adolf Hitler did.

I'm not, Spikey did, I was speaking against him :P But still, Hitler is in fact not the worst. I suppose you heard of Jozef Stalin. He killed loads more then Hitler, and many were his own people. He only killed them to keep the power. In fact he didn't just kill them. There were some very bad winters in Russia, and he just let them starve to death out there. :/

That's a common misconception. Hitler killed way more people than stalin did. It is estimated that hitler killed almost more soviet people than stalin. When ever germany took over a soviet town they took all of its food and supplies letting the civilians starve, if the town had no worthy supplies they simply shot everyone who lived there.

Also most of the soviets stalin killed were part of the old red army due to a german double agent telling stalin that the old red army was planning to overthrow him and the communist party.

As for the harsh winters, that was mostly due to the old monarchy, when the monarchy saw it was losing power of the country, they had people go around and burn crops. But Stalins terrible "collective farming" policy didnt help them either.

Both were terrible people, but when it comes down to it, no one compares to Hitler.
