I think this would be a good idea, but only for builders and up or crafters and up. By the time somebody becomes a crafter you know they cant be a griefer. TNT for trusted players would be helpful b/c if you want to destroy a whole creation quickly you could destroy it faster with tnt.

This is the SMP area of the forums, it has different ranks and permissions to the Opticraft Classic server. Crafters on classic can use the cuboid command which is much more simple to use and more reliable. I don't see this being enabled on SMP anyway.

Perhaps a rank spacificly for this... -Demolitionist- Where the person is able to produce things for events, such as:
Fireworks,
tnt cannons,
tnt mining,
mobtraps,
security systems ( pit of death, water fall trap, ect)

and for the skilled terra forming.(me)

I use tnt for all kinds of stuff, for self profit and others.
Sometimes life sucks.... but then you see a picture of Bowsette and everything gets better.

I don't support the idea for TNT usage. It's tempting for a high-rank to use it, but given the current circumstances, it's best not to cause too much unnecessary lag to a brand new server...

Plus, the same plugin that disables creeper explosions also affects TNT blocks as well as Ghast Fireballs-- therefore, TNT would be useless because explosion effects are disabled.

We should keep the amount of wide-scale destruction to a minimum, as Nyssa had pointed out earlier.

Accidents can happen with TNT and I don't think any one of us wants that happening to our chests.

It disables the fireballs from blowing up blocks.
