Notice - Silk touch

Silktouch is enabled, but will not work on Diamond, Lapis, Redstone and Coal ores - These are used for protection, bar redstone, which is reserved in case we need it later.

Silktouch will work on all other blocks as expected.

The block reappears saying it cannot be mined using silk touch.

Like say if you are using silk touch, and you destroy some grass, without silk touch, the grass would turn into dirt, but with silk touch, it is always grass. So it gives you EXACTLY what you mined

Silk Touch is when you can mine, lets say diamonds and you dont get a diamond, you get the ore.

The two purposes of silk touch for most people, is so you can mine mycilum and keep the mycilum. The other reason is so you don't have to bake your stone to turn it smooth.
