Peaceful spawn rate?

are the spawn rates on the peacefuls very low because i have to wander very far from any buildings to find anything like chickens, pigs and cows.

I never find ANY of them, I have had the game for two or so weeks now and I haven't seen a pig yet

Passive mobs do not spawn, only the night mobs do. (apart from squids, those spawn still)

kian? I believe that you havent searched for some reasons around. Go to some mountains, lands, everything that buildings dont exist there, and you will find.
Dont wait still for chicken to come to you.
On the other hand, someone said about a source of light, and spawning. What is this? If you place a torch then maybe an animal will spawn?

No I have loads of torches well I did I moved but ok I'll go to the mounyais etc.

From what I know, pigs and peaceful mobs USED to spawn like violent mobs, only during the day or light.
But when the 1.8 update came they scrapped it and now you have to breed animals, for that is the only way they will spawn now.
