A Few Things To Make The Server Better

Hi Everyone,

I just have a few suggestions to make the server better:

1. /afk doesn't work, but I understand why...however I enjoyed this addition so if there is a way to implement it with all the new people it would be great

2. /online doesn't work well because I can't see half the people online because there are too many people online...

3. A way to /msg somebody where it won't be swamped out by other people chatting

/tell used to give PM's in a nice pink color. must have broken in the 1.2 update and nobody noticed.

if you're looking for a specific person online, just use /tell <name> and if they aren't online, the server will tell you :p

Both /afk and /tell were taken out when a specific plugin was removed. We are making lots of modifications, revisions and changes to the list of plugins to better protect and increase the server's performance.

Well that plugin known as herochat was disabled because it had stopped updating long ago and bukkits new code would not allow it to be used.

I think pms need to be a different colour, whether this is from another plugin, or coded by Optical. As a member, I often find people just don't hear my messages, as they are swamped out in grey, but trusted is much easier to see).

I don't think afk should return, as it is very easily spammable.

This, plus it serves no purpose.  It would be nice if you could make yourself invincible (but unable to do anything) with /afk, but it's really not a big deal. You can usually just log off for that purpose.

The one thing I will state is crops. Growing crops is a pain, and it is often easier to go AFK. It would be nice for the peace of mind that nobody will come along and push you into the nearest water source etc.

Good point. I'm already noticing that about crops.
Even still, it's a very minor thing compared to the other things the server needs.

Yeah I realize it is low priority...but if you guys have any time just mention it to optical or an admin

Maybe i'm missing something here, but is there some large problem with the server that needs attending to?
Only that suggest that there is a immediate threat to the life of the server...

/tell sucked, you couldn't use /r and the colour was irritating me. Thank god it is broken, /msg is a ton better, no irritating colours, and you can use /r to reply

Actually, yes. The most current issue we have is that of the spambots and hackers that have been attacking our server as of late. We are working on an array of methods to keep this from happening again. We are also working on boosting the performance of the server.

As I have said before, /tell and /afk are the least of our worries, since the specific plugin (Herochat) has been removed because it is no longer being kept up to date by its developers.
