If someone dies to your trap, you have as good as killed them with a sword.

 Killing other players, regardless of how, results in a  ban for a period of time.

i have a trap but it is only for griefers and if i get banned for like 1 day because i killed a griefer...... it is worth it

You have just admitted that you are breaking the rules. You're basically turning yourself in for a crime you committed.
Do not make traps that kill people, just make a 2 block pit or something that will not hurt the player. An example of a good trap is at Salas's home, if you go there, he has a trap, but it doesn't hurt you at all, it is 100% safe and it is not breaking the rules.
