If an IP ban will fix this, no one else can play on the server. Maybe if you change your username, there will be history of your past username. For example I'm yajeetz, then I want to become namelessmister. Like chests and furnaces maybe your username will have meta data and have extra information.

Keep in mind you may have to pay a small fee to change your name, not sure though.
I personally think it's a horrible idea.

I am fine with my name. It is not the best name ever but that doesn't bother me.

Actually with most ISP's an IP ban isn't going to work.  I know when I was on Bell all I had to do was reset my modem and my IP changed every time.  I really hope Mojang doesn't allow username changes, and if they do I hope they implement some kind of back-end way to check an "account" number or something.

It's probably limited. Let's say, 2 name changes, and then you'd have to pay or something.

I think its a good idea to have.

However, its going to royally fuck everything up, as your login is based entirely on your name, and so all existing data - bans, ranks, protections, inventory.. everything, is based on this string.

Hopefully they have thought of a way to solve this without breaking everything.

Perhaps a name that will be "cosmetic" ie: people can have the same name, but the account is associated with a id and the id will now control everything (it will probably be your username) and your "name" will just be the name of your avatar.
