Updates Info & Hide Chats
« on: May 06, 2012, 07:20:05 pm »
I know this is my third suggestion today (and ever), but I just felt like sharing, and it by no means hurts anything.

I feel another update for the site that might be nice is an update section. (Added to the navigation bar.)

It would just list what updates are planned, which are currently being worked on, and possibly a progress of said updates.
Example: http://www.2006scape.com/services/forums/thread.ws?1,2,6,208

You could even create a spoiler of sorts using a simple JavaScript function so that users could see what updates you have already finished. (Would allow people to see how much work you actually have to do.)

Just thought it might be nice for people to know what's coming to Opticraft

Edit:
Reading through the forums yet another idea came to mind, and instead of creating a new thread, I'll just post it here.

Allow players to hide either Global or Trade chat.
   1) Would be nice to not have your screen spammed when you're off mining or something.
   2) Would allow you to specifically view the trade chat if you're in the market to sell/buy.
   3) Would allow you to not have to see any talk of trade if you're not interested.

And a server message could be added that would periodically message you saying: "Don't forget, you're currently not displaying the following chats: Trade, Global." That way users don't accidentally leave, say, trade hidden and miss something.

optical tries to be pretty clear on what is being worked on in the status/news updates on the main page. i'm not sure how necessary a dedicated page would be.

i do think it should be possible to leave global/trade chat - but obviously people still need to see moderator's chat in case something important is being said.

you should be able to use /deafen to remove all public messages.

True as that may be, it still couldn't hurt.
It would be one page you could go to where you would easily and quickly know what's coming, what's coming soon, and what has came out recently.

As far as important mod+ messages, a check could be implemented.
I highly doubt there will be enough chat from staff to flood the chat.

And I didn't know about /deafen, thanks!

The next Minecraft update gives you the ability to turn the chat off completely.

Regarding what you said, you can quite simply do /ch leave g, and you will not recieve any further messages. However, once you are finished, you must type in /ch join g to rejoin to global chat.
