A pick with silk touch doesn't worth more then 14k. If it had more enchantments I would continue.

Check it out! ;)

I would like to know what practical purposes it has except melon or giant mushroom blocks, and glass blocks.
Are they really worth that much for those blocks since manually farming melons is less effective than an automatic pumpkin farm. Redstone ore is the only minable ore for these purposes unless you use it for stone farming.
Sometimes a little bit of pessimism goes further than a stream of optimism, it lets you see both sides of the coin and break the illusion of the reality that others built around you.

Stone, glass, ice, etc. It's good if you need materials that change when broken.

Silk Touch has three uses in this server:

1- A diamond pick can mine up to 1562 blocks which means 24 stacks of stone. You can buy 24 stacks of stone from the market for 3600$. I was going to use it for stone farming but i had not made the calculation. When i see this result, i understand that silk touch doesn't worth more then 3000 if you are going to mine stone.

2- If you are going to get some melon blocks, the max mining number will be divised in 2 as melons counts as two blocks for picks so you can mine max 781 melon blocks. 781 melons=12 stacks. 12x480=5760$ so u will earn max 5760$ with melon farming.

3- Another use is ,and maybe the best one, to mine normally unobtainable(with mining) items like glowstone. I will talk about glowstone. So you can mine max 1562 blocks with a diamond pick so lets say we mine 1562 glowstone. 1562/64=24 stacks. The buying(you sell) price for glowstone is 65$ per 8. So 24*8=192 (64 is 8 times 8 ). So we will sell 192 times. So, we will earn 12480$ This is the best use for a diamond pick but it will be hard to collect that many glowstone in the nether.

So finally, if we look to these results, we can understand that silk touch has not so many uses at least in this server.

Stone, glass, ice, etc. It's good if you need materials that change when broken.

nope, glass, ice and other glass like blocks cannot be obtained with silk touch

Silk Touch tools are best at getting giant mushroom blocks since harvesting it normally grants only mushrooms and not blocks. But these blocks are annoying to store since each variation of the block (stem, mushroom image on left, right, ect.) does not stack on each other. So its a great tool to utilize those blocks.

The higher the level of the Silk Touch, the % increases

Actually, there is only Silk Touch I. [sorry, read after the fact that you corrected yourself]

Any server that runs the EnchantView plugin can show you exactly what enchant it is you're getting.

There's also BetterEnchants which allows you to choose (for a cost) each enchant to put on an item and the level of the enchant. XP requirement increases with that. Note the server will need to run the mod/plugin for you to be able to use that capability.

As an aside, the randomness of enchanting is totally hosed. You may get Unbreaking II for 36 XP at some point and then you might pick up Unbreaking III, Fortune II, and Efficiency III for 26. Or Unbreaking II for 23. I've seen Unbreaking II at 45 a couple of times even!

SO, morale of the story, if enchanting, don't count on the highest value XP giving you the best enchants... Personally I suggest that every server runs EnchantView since the variety and randomness rather... poor and imo unfair for the time vested getting the XP.

Sorry for the derail...

PS: As another note, you CAN actually get multiple enchants on a pick WITH the Silk Touch I enchant as well. I once had a gold Pick with Unbreaking III, Efficiency III and Silk Touch I. I once spent approx 34 on a pick with Efficiency IV, Unbreaking III and Fortune III. It's really all luck of the draw with Enchants the way they're set up in MC right now... :(
