I know i'm treading in dangerous waters, but i've seen many people that have been on for the same amount of time as me, helped no more than me, that are promoted to trusted. I'm sure others are feeling this way as well. I think that there should be a more organized way to acheive Trusted, such as applications. I hope that no one takes this the wrong way, but this is something that's been in the back of my mind ever since i joined.

Helping out the community is only part of what makes you Trusted...The other part is friendly communication...Get to know everyone...Make and comment on forum posts (like this one) and talk to users on Mumble...Mumble is a great way to mix with the community and make great friends...I'm sure if you follow my advice your on the right track...Not that you aren't already! ;)

They should notice you on Mumble...Just relax...Be Sociable...Make friends...Stand Out from everyone else and you'll succeed! The timing however entirely depends on the Staff...If you make youself known to everyone on the Server probably a shorter time but that is a difficult aim so just keep on trying and being nice!

There is a "rule", Dont ask for Trusted rank.
But, since you are curious, as Bahraindude said, you have to use mumble in order to become known.
This is the place everyone get met.
On the other hand, you cant compare yourself with others. In your life, you have to take in serious consideration only your track. No, what others do.
Tips:
1) Be kind.
2) Respect the rules (/Rules)
3) Help on projects (Firstly, ask for permission though)
4) Become a seller in order to create some commercial relationship with the buyers.
5) Been generous, helps.
When you see members or just guest, give them advices, and help them get adjusted.
I became trusted very quickly, but these are things that I have done, and are common sense for me.
It depends on your priorities.

Whoops. Thanks spamarian, if you or anyone else needs help with a project, or even one of your treasure hunts, tell me.
I really like helping people, not only because it improves my chance of becoming trusted, but it gives other people a good
impression of the server. I especially enjoy helping new peple with houses, i give them free lots and help them build.
P.S, how does Mumble work? Is it safe? Do you chat with everyone at once? I'm kind of skeptical about talking with people that i don't know.

Senior staff sees all. Do not be fooled if they choose to let an evil action go, or wait to see how an issue between two players works itself out. They may not act right away. But i am sure they are on top of it. Bide your time. Play the game. Have fun. Be nice to everyone. Help out where you can. I am sure you will get there eventually, but don't stress it to much, just enjoy yourself. ;D

I was thinking that I should make a treasure hunt game.... e well know and have fun at the same time, but I need ome ideas on how people could not cheat/item carrying into the game?

i've thought that the "trusted" system needs to be re-worked entirely for a while now, but I don't really know how to go about doing it.
the system worked fine back when we had 30 players online at peak times. now it's not going to cut it.
feel free to think about it and suggest a change.

I think that maybe there should be Trusted applications, and you'd have to be a member (or guest) for a certain amount of time. Hand-picking them isn't going to work as the server grows.

Trusted isn't a type of job or anything. Trusted means that you have played often on the server and you're friendly to all players. so there is no need for applications.

But as the server grows, more moderators will be required. However, only trusted people may apply. But it isn't very efficient to hand pick them, since that bot all trusted want to become moderators. So, Trusted apps would simply be a more efficient way to promote Guests and Members to increase the number of mods.

Trust me, it is not easy becoming a Moderator. If you want to increase the number of Trusted rank. then just tell them to go on Mumble cause that is the fastest way toward your path. Plus, i don't think they will implement Trusted applications. I think its a waste of time and it wont be legitiment way of earning their Trust.

Apps for trusted completely ruins the point of the trusted rank. The rank is for the people who have been recognized by the operators and have been deemed fit to access water.

Okay, let's just assume for the moment that this does go into effect. Do you know how much the forums would get flooded with these requests?!? Heck, the amount of people that try out for Moderator is large, so what do you think will happen if this does get implemented? The forums would be as good as dead. The forums would have forum posts saying 'Why didn't I get Trusted?!?' or 'I am not a griefer so please promote me'. It would fill up and up and up with worthless crap. What would happen to the people who DO want to use the forums effectively? They get cut off.
I'm sorry, but this idea is flawed. Hand picking Trusted members right now is the best thing to do in my opinion.

I always say the best way to be noticed is to be noticed. Plain and simple. Mods+ are the ones who usually put forward suggestions for the Trusted rank. However, don't immediately go spamming every mod out there trying to be their friend because there's a big difference between being noticed and being a nuisance.
Hanging and helping out Trusted's is a good way to get yourself noticed too. They already have the trusted rank, which usually means they hang out with a mod or two, and there is a chance they'll pass your name along to us as well.
The worst thing you can do if you want a Trusted rank is to play solo. You have to be out there making a name for yourself (in a good way) to get Trusted. I mean, the rank IS called Trusted. How can you be trusted if nobody knows you?

That actually sounds like an amazing idea. Of course, I can be patient when I want to, but to wait three months? That's a little over board :P

First, it will ensure that those getting the trusted rank (automatically) actually can be trusted without us knowing them. Second, it will ensure that Trusted players know they have a 3 month wait to get it back if they get banned, making them less likely to grief as well.
Took me 2 months to get trusted rank, and that's being out in the open and doing things in groups. I think someone who's out doing solo work should be 3. It's not that long when you think about it.

It's not just abiding to rules and helping out. Be friends with some mods and just walk with the crowds as they say.
I also advise Mumble! It will boost your chances by a lot!

Going on mumble helps moderators and other players get to know you better. It helps them understand what kind of person you are and can be, if you are capable of handling the rank of trusted. The whole point of the trusted rank is as it sounds, to be "trusted". We, as mods and as a community, must trust you to be a responsible, kind and helpful player.

Of course, the answers mods would give to people when they ask "why can't I be trusted" will also cause some kind of chaos. People will begin to argue that they have completely "qualified for a guideline....been playing for a long time...helped others...but all for nothing?". People have to learn to understand that the rank is only for the server's most trusted players. If they are helpful, they are not just being helpful because they want to get the trusted rank, but it must be of their own choice. Trusteds are role models in the Opticraft community: people who are mature, follow the rules, never grief, and love to help everyone out. Although it is a rank, we should not consider it to be one. Rather, it is a privileged title to those most deserving of being "a trusted member" of the community. It is a rank you "shouldn't expect to receive", meaning you'll get it at any random time, when the staff feel you are ready. Some trusteds have gotten their rank within hours, while some have gotten it within months. It all depends on the person and how well our staff perceives them.
Like I said earlier, mumble is a great way to get trusted, for those "deeply concerned" about it. Just being on mumble and meeting all the players, mods and even the admins sometimes, helps everyone see what kind of person you are.

No, there are good and friendly players who should get it within 3 weeks, and idiots who never deserve trusted. This is just a massive generalisation. You need to look at each case individually.

I believe that 3 months is a good period.
But, giving the trusted rank within 5,10,20 days someone is around or in mumble, just destroys the meaning of trusted.
