Title: /r interuption
Post by: Kascas on July 13, 2012, 02:45:43 pm
i use /r alot couse its very easy to use
untill...some other guy pms you, meanwhile your typing and totaly messes everything up  ;D

is it possible for /r to send it to the last player that pmed you, before you started typing?
that like as soon you type /r or press t it records the last player that pmed you
and the message sended will go to that person, instead of the random guy that pms you while you are typing it

i guess there is a good reason for it, that its not working this way? or would it be possible? 8)

I don't think that's possible. Since you haven't actually told the server you're doing anything, until you hit enter.
Try avoiding this by looking at the chat before you send your message.

I can just picture you kidding around with someone and typing in "/r Your an absolute jackass", then right before you hit enter Opti sends you "Hi" in a PM.  The next 20 minutes are spent on your knees begging not to get banned...  *LMAO*

Instead of using /r, I just type /msg playername, then no message, that way all chats go to that person, then while chatting, If someone else pms me I can use /r to reply to them

This is correct. There is no way for the server to know when you have begun typing until you hit enter.

It's a nuisance, I know, but it happens.

The only things that show you who or what is typing out messages in real-time are IRC clients and Instant Messaging. If there was a way to implement that into the Minecraft game clients, that'd be super. I highly doubt that it would still decipher who or what you're gonna send your messages to.

Even then, I doubt something like that will ever be implemented into the game client. Best not to hold your breath for too long.
