Today, when I came on this morning I had someone work for me. I was going to use the /msg command to tell them how much they would get payed and ended up telling everyone in public chat that they would receive $50 for harvesting my farm. I ended up having to use the /whisper command, which is hard to see, unlike the purple /msg command. Please fix this or tell me why it is broken! Thanks!

this is the same for everyone at the moment :(
another templory alternative is going into a privet chat with /msg name without typing a message
then you can msg and /r like u used to ;)
some higher rankeds already seen it, so they are most likely going to attempt to fix it soon
will take time tho 8)

Ok ty

i too have this problem now, it happened right after i "signed" my first book, it may have nothing at all to do with it but it worked the same day until i finished the book. Just wanted to put it out there, but it may just be coincidence.
-
You can also type /whisper [name] [message]
This still works :P
-
Arsenic_shark i know of this command and would use it exept for thefact that it is a plain color and blends in with the other posts.
-
Thi /msg command is still not working, and it really annoys me because i sometimes have 'personal' or 'important' conversations that i dont want anyone else to here, so i would like it if it was fixed.
-
I'm having problems with this too.
-
use /msg name then type your message just a extra step but it helps in the long run because no /r message.

Correct me if Ive got the wrong pluggin but i believe /msg and /r are part of Hero chat (plugin).
So this is out of opti's, deject's or anyones hands to sort. They have to wait for the plugin developer to update it.

Yes but the rest of the commands in this plugin work, only this one doesnt!!!

I might be wrong, but I have a feeling a lot of plugin developers are waiting on the bukkit recommended build because every time a dev build is released the API is updated as well (although there may or may not be any significant changes).
I'm not going to start on the plugin I have in mind until the recommended build is made either.

Herochat has ironed out its set of bugs-- once the new build gets implemented, the Private Messaging issues should be resolved :)
Thanks to all for waiting patiently for this moment to come

Why do we have plugins that overlaps each other?(eg /msg and /whisper)
-
one is hero chat,
the other is essentials.
We have plugins which do multiple things and of cause some overlap. But think about it if they didn't no one would be PM each other. So is it really a bad thing?
