Title: Ziggurat - OPEN to Applicants
Post by: Interbane on August 14, 2012, 06:41:20 pm
The main structure is finished, all that is needed is the detail work and polish.   Before I provide screenshots, I’m opening up applications to people who are familiar with the project.  I will close applications on a whim.

Current Amenities:
NPC Village
5 community crafting hubs
Multiple full enchantment tables
Sheep of all colors
Pig, Cow, and Chicken farms
Sugar cane farm
Automatic Wheat farm
Manual giant mushroom farm
Manual zombie fight zone
Triple spider spawner(under construction)

Future Amenities:
Automatic melon/pumpkin/cocoa/cactus/vine farms
Brewing stations
Tree grove of each tree type
Slime farm(the chunk is marked, but unbuilt)
Mob grinder(non-spawner, darkness spawned)
Octopus grinder

Current Entertainment:
Safe falls to each crescent
Zombie pit fight area.
Hidden paths everywhere
Automatic arrow volley chicken coop
Integrated maze in top level
Hidden chests with good loot, dozens of them everywhere

Future entertainment:
Integrated roller coasters
Water slides
Fantastical spleef arena

MEMBERS:  I’ve defined specific build areas for members.  I will place additional signs and rope off the plots so they are easier to distinguish.  The build areas are around the perimeter of the inside, on ground level, as well as around the exterior in certain locations.  If your builds are good, I’ll promote you to VIP
Member Roster:

VIPs:  There are a few VIP’s already.  The list is below.  To acquire VIP status, show me something you’ve built.  If it’s good, I’ll give you the rank.  VIP members may build anywhere that isn’t already taken.  VIP members may also use the random housing I’ve built.
VIP Roster:

WORK. There are areas that are community projects.

Catacombs - The first is the catacomb excavation.  Basically, the entire bedrock region is prepped to be excavated.  As it’s cleared, columns will be built, and a glass/lava floor will be laid.  This will extend out in all directions until it covers the entire region.

Underwater area – There is slave labor that’s needed to clear water.  I will define the perimeter of various rooms, leaving it ready for clearing.

Polish – The stone vertical walls around the depressed crescents have splotches of gravel/dirt/and cobblestone.  All this needs replaced with smooth stone.  The method is to scaffold upward with a dirt/cobble pillar and fix the wall, then destroy the scaffolding back down.

Navigation: Use “/home interbane go” to port to the top chamber.  Once there, read the signs.  They contain all necessary information to navigate the ziggurat.

Coordinates of best build:  Don't need co-ords, just go to /home winniedoxie 2. It's not very good though...

Desired plot: The little nice green space with trees and grass.

Extra note: I've seen your Ziggurat, and I'd really love to make a small little cewdie wewdie house there :3

Duinis, accepted. You're on all the time from what I can tell.  See me in game to get a plot.  There are a large number of areas not yet labeled that are open for building.

I dont want to join, although i would love to help. I have seen you have put a ton of time into this project. I enjoy projects like that

Being a member is the same as offering help.  Once I add a person to the region, they are a member of the region by definition.  This is true whether they wish to build a mundane structure to set their /home within or simply help excavate.

If you wish to help brp, let me know how.  If you wish to 'lay block' rather than 'remove block', show me your best build.

I can do both, but i am better at removing. I am wirking on a huge spleef, so if i could either have access to the sheep farm or be payed in colored wool, i would love that. I will not be on much this week though due to me having a swim clinic that i have to go to. Friday night i will be on though for sure

I've added a slime farm that so far has 5 confirmed slime chunks.  I'm distinguishing those chunk boundaries and will be adding spawning platforms of 3-block heights from layer 0 to 40 to maximize spawn rates.

I've added an automatic function to the Netherwart farm and Pumpkin farms, and will automate the cocoa farm tonight.

I've added spikes and veins to the exterior, and am waiting for a creative epiphany before replicating the spikes across the structure.

The center bottom is now Part 1 of a supermaze.  It is glass interwoven into the bedrock, with lava accents.  Part 2 is mostly finished, which is labeled the "Stone Labyrinth" and has a creepy overview of the slime farm area.  These are difficult mazes with good rewards.

I've made a platform maze suspended from the lower floating crescent near the farms.  At the end, you drop down into the Aquard, my underwater build.  It is currently nothing more than a series of interconnecting passages, but will soon have chambers and secrets.

I've made a massive water/lava helix where the flows originate from the two floating crescents and drop down to bedrock in the middle.  The central Safe Fall passes down the center, barely missing the ACTG proteins.

I've also made a VIP lounge, up in the air.  It's giant lava sphere, the inside of which is crafted into a 3 story complex.

Coordinates of best build:  (in progress) Member world, X:444 y:70 z:-1820

Desired plot: Not sure yet, I'm interested in having a home there but solely on the purpose of building to the theme of the area. In other words, this is not a priority application, if others want to build take them first.

You're both accepted.

If you find a location or plot that you want, let me know asap.  Otherwise, you need not build anything, and simply use the amenities.

FYI - The "walls" of each depressed crescent are plots as well... you can have a condo built into the wall overlooking different areas.

I went there but it was confusing.  I did your home "go" but it said you did not have a home of that name.  I fell to my death on the water-lava helix but I got my things back with ender pearls.

Hmm, sorry.  My regular /home goes to the top now.  If you ever get lost , port back to the top.

As far as it being confusing... it's not confusing enough yet.  It's laid out in disdain of the square stamp-a-plot towns that look just like what you'd find in rural America.  I can't stand that.

There are shortcuts everywhere, and you can get to any part of the complex quickly.  But you need to explore and memorize them.

It's also quite dangerous, of course.

I didn't mean to say "crazy" sorry.

What I mean is, there are very few parameters on what's possible to build.  You can build anything you can dream of, from fantastical dystopian sci-fi landscapes to scenes from Lord of the Rings, upside down fortresses, MC Escher style buildings, etc.

But for some reason, people's creative horizon extends no further than re-creating the real world.  Even when the sky is the limit(figuratively), you find towns that look Podunk USA.  Why build the eiffel tower when you can build a fantastical wizard's tower?

Another quirk of minecraft that I find annoying is that people build walls around the cities, just like in real life.  What are you protecting against?  An unexpected zombie apocalypse?  There are benefits, I understand, but no wall will keep out a determined griefer unless it has city protection, in which case the point is moot.

I love "aesthetic" walls, built to look good in an artful fashion.  But throwing up a wall of cobblestone is a form of grief in my book.  It's ugly, anyone can do it, and it almost always results in more real estate being consumed than is necessary.  Which is bad in a game where sustainable access to undeveloped real estate is required for a healthy server.

Techdude, you're accepted.  I'll check out your work when I'm online tonight.  I'm sure there's a large plot that will suit your fancy.

I've been on opticraft SMP server since january 2012.

My best builds are tied between radlam's house and wratikie's house. I'll MSG u the /homes on the forum. U should check um out when I'm on so I can give u a tour :p

I don't really want a plot. I perfer to build for others rather than myself. If anyone in ur town would like a house made for them send them to me :)

Yeah Radlam, sorry.  There's no need to build.  I just want a filter to keep out the crazies.  The whole place is essentially public, but if you've applied I add you to the PStones guarding switches and buttons.

There are two public projects.  Lowering the last crescent all the way down to Y:20, and expanding the slime farm.
