Well this topic is as simple as it gets, essentially answering the question.
I'll start off.
Other servers didn't have what Opticraft have which was community, it may seem other servers say that they have good community but in which it doesn't.
Other servers just spam chat with useless broadcasting junk and bad choice of colors in which would make it hard to interact with other players.
However this server is simply consisted with a helpful community and staff, which was the reason that made me stay. :)

I started in classic, it was the fact that griefers were permabanned that made me stay. Much less grief. :P
-
The main reason I stayed was because 99% of every player was welcoming, it felt like a family and I wanted to be a part of it in a way. The whole community is nothing like any server I have ever been on. I also found the staff helpful and supportive and so were I guess a good representative for the server. The freedom that I found when building and the idea of a survival server also got me interested. Overall just a top server >.<

I first joined and someone let me stay with them, then I found out a friend was on the server (no longer plays on this server)

During March and April I played on different servers a lot to find which one I like the most. As time went on I found myself on the Opticraft server more and on other servers less. What I like about the Opticraft server is that the in game commands are really good, the operators are usually helpful and friendly, and the guest map is usually neat and clean looking, guest maps on other servers are just eyesores with 1x1 towers and grieved buildings all over the place, which brings me to another thing I like about Opticraft, it doesn't have as much grievers. I really really enjoy the strict stance against grieving. I've had experiences on other servers who's high level of leniency toward grievers resulted in my build getting grieved multiple times by the same person.

I stayed, because a friend welcomed me here, and the awesome staff. They came at a good time, unlike some servers, they take much longer.
-
I stayed (back on classic) because I got recruit and I wanted to work on builder so I kept building...
-
Pretty much the same as raul, I also got to know a few people on the server and everyone was pretty welcoming.
Very happy that I stayed here.
-
I wanted to get recruit so I could make my waterfall have water

Joined 7 monthes ago on SMP, stayed because I wanted a server that atayed true to survival without going over the top. Only server i really found that didnt have a billion plugins.
I think im like on eof the few people thtpat have never played classic. I dont understand the ranks or anything lol
-
I got builder on my 4th day being on the server, after that I left for 2 weeks and eventually came back to build again and never left after that.
-
I stayed because i got banned from all of the other servers lol jk. I stayed because i Usually raged quit on all of the PvP servers (because i suck at it), and Opticraft was the first server that didn't have PvP on the Minecraft server list. So after a while i made some friends and decided to stay.
-
Good people.
-
i stayed here because this was the first server i was ever ranked on (yes i considered this server ranking more easily than other servers) and of course after 5 days you meet people you can call friends :D
-
I stayed right after I met Xeadin :P Nicest Operator you'll ever meet...On classic :P I got Recruit, and worked my way up to where I am today...
-
I joined once in October 2010, never really played much, then late November I gave it another shot and wanted to get builder, so I stayed.

*b+tch please*
I stayed because my friends from school had built their houses in the sky about 100 blocks away and i made them angy by buildin a skybridge with my house in the middle. About a week in, i was griefed and awesonealicia(who had been congradulated on op in chat that day) fixed my grief. That made me apreciate the server staff. I made a sucsessful shop("sucsessful" as in getti.g ripped off and not knowing it). What REALLY made me stay is how one day, i had advertised my shop in chat and 2 guy came in, both with diamond picks, and started destroying the floor. If you remember earlier, i live in the sky, so they fell and died. Me and the staff member who helped me cracked up as the bqn hamner spoke on both of them. all of THAT made me stay.
PS: i was permanently banned for a little while(i WILL admit that) and after 1&1/2 months i fully composed myself to make an apoeal. It was sucsessful. After that, it was like i restarted. I was less selfish and greedy, taking more notice in players in need. I finished a project (a clubhouse) i started to build and made lots of friends with that. I became sucsessful and am now located on the 12th page of /balancetop and/or baltop. Overall, opticraft, i LOVE YOU!

I stayed because after 5 days of playing 12 hours a day, I wasnt gonna go NOWHERE ELSE!!! LMAO
-
I stayed because the server had protection stones. When I started minecraft, I found a server with protection stones and I liked them. But I was a noob so I would go around "taking" blocks and yea... I didn't know lol. I couldn't find another nice server without Towny. Oh, also because it had a live map so I went exploring before I explored in-game. Also because I found a humongous cross built by codepmman and I built near him and then soon enough corra, code, and I became friends then they got trusted and it gave me an incentive to continue playing.
-
The Dedly and Licia were mods at the time. They kept filling in my annoying and constant grief helpops :3.
-
I stayed because the community was awesome. That and I wanted to know what trusted was :P
-
I honestly knew no one when i joined, but I stayed because I built my castle then 2 weeks later. I finished it(I suck at building). Then Alicia came and I made a lot of friends and I stayed.
