Title: End of Stream
Post by: Juicyzbox on September 16, 2012, 06:50:02 am
As of today, i moved into college and the internet here is really good.  It is better than at home but at home i can play fine with no lag at all, but here i cant play at all.  I can say a couple of words if i'm lucky than i just get End of Stream, when im in the server.  Is there any fix or is it just my college internet?

I'm honestly not that great with things like internet connection, so I may not be much help.
Try searching around on the Minecraft forums, because I'm sure a lot of people have had the same problem.

Good luck!

Take a speedtest (http://www.speedtest.net/) at home and school, I'm rather interested in your results.

It could just be down to the internet speeds like dk said.

at school i have 9.94mbps download and 71.24mbps upload

while im not at home right now, i can remember by speeds at about 5mbps download or so and 14mbps upload
so there is a huge difference in speeds sadly which makes no sense.  everything i can think of is that since it's a school connection, it could have certain ports or access issues which would not be the best for minecraft.  Other games work fine here and internet runs great

You do realize they block the ports for video games at a lot of public access spots right? It's the same way most libraries are as well

He could never access the server if they blocked 25565.

Do a packet loss test.

Crazy it's college, they don't block the Internet at all haha

But actually it fixed itself, they were probably just having problems the other day since it was the first/second back
