well, today I came onto Opti, as usual, and when I did /list to see who was on, there were 7 people. SEVEN. Six before I was on. That ain't good. Sure it was in a time when most people in my time zone would be asleep, but last year in this time there were 30 people. Now, I know why this is happening. voting. so many people now have just clicked the link and exited out of the tab without the Capcha-filling-out. I will admit, when rushed, i have done the same, but not very often. I am pretty sure there is a way to get your voting rewards only in the page AFTER the Capcha. Without this it seems Opticraft will wither and die.

Votes aren't the reason we're losing players. It's the fact that the majority of our player base (America/Canada) are no longer on holidays. You'll find we get up to 70 players at some point in the day.
What timezone are you in may I ask?
-
That's true DK but I agree about the rewards for voting
-
Eastern. I think. I'm not really sure, but the one Alicia is in, the East Coast of America.
-
Yes that's we're most ppl on opti live

With the current system set up for votes, there isn't really a way to fix that problem.
The old vote page use to have the capcha on it, but it was shortly removed due to some problems.
So there's not much that can be done.

That's what the voting system is using with a few tweaks by optical.

This vote system has been used by Opti for years, even before Opticraft. Sure the system isn't perfect but it's not the system really that is the problem. The problem is Minecraft player base is slowly declining. It is an indie game, and it can't live forever.

Yes, but the sites Opticraft is advertised on are not specifically Minecraft based voting sites, they offer other game servers to vote on. Only Minecraft voting site developers add Votifier support, because well, Minecraft is the only game they advertise.

I think that this is probably the big reason for a recent drop in players.

True, because I've been back in school for about a month now and in December we have exams and stuff. But luckily, as a sophmore, I still have time to come on Opticraft. People are really busy now due to school related reasons.

We just need to wait. It is the same with Classic. It is not only Opticraft that doesn't have many players on. Other servers have it too. And like Nyssa said:
The problem is Minecraft player base is slowly declining. It is an indie game, and it can't live forever.

All of the above, pretty much. Think of it this way, I don't think SMP will become like classic player-wise any time soon ;)
