Hi,
I am encountering a problem when trying to open my single player worlds.
The screen just says 'downloading terrain' and does not change. I have let it sit for almost an hour and it still would not open.
Any help please?
Thanks,
kag

Well, I would just replace the Folder. May work but Idk
1. Go to %appdata%
2. Go to .minecraft
3. Go to the bin
4. Go to saves
5. Whatever the world is called it should have a Folder with the all the MC data
6. Create a new folder
7. Copy and Paste all of the data into a new folder
8. Put the folder back in the Saves Folder.
Hope it helped =)

So basically cut and paste my worlds back into the bin?

Pretty much, It really just makes new data form the comp. But gets data from the old folder :P

Can you provide a little more information, such as:
- Has this happened in the past?
- When did this start occurring?
- Is this happening with multiple worlds?
Some things to check:
- Make sure your java us up to date.
- Check how many worlds are having this issue.
- Create a new world and see if the issue continues with the new world.
- Re-install Minecraft completely. (backup saves/screenshots)
If you have no luck with the above things, it is possible your world is a little corrupt.
I'd suggest using MCEdit to open up the world and check for missing chunks or mass amounts of entities. MCEdit can fix that. If that still doesn't work try using MCEdit to move your spawn point.

The real problem your having is a lack of allocated ram. You ethire need to use your computers admin functions to allow minecraft more ram space or download magic launcher and do the same using their setup functions. I had this problem also but that is how I got it fixed. This is the same method mojang sent to me.

Yes, i use magic launcher, and i got magic launcher because i installed the nodus client yesterday, and this has never happened before, just when i use magic launcher. Also this is not my computer, so i cannot work with the system itself, including allocated RAM

Here is specifically how I fixed mine when I was having my problem.
1. open magiclauncher.jar
2. click setup
3. click advanced
4. change the memory ( most likely 512) to 750
5. click ok and then login.
That should be how you give it more memory without needing admin permissions. Trust me I did this on a school locked down macbook so it should work (note: magic launcher should be a generic format for this same function cross all systems)

I need WinRAR or 7zip to open the .jar file, right?
I can open up my wotlds with the vanilla, but if I'm in the hacked client it doesn't seem to work

Oh the hacked client I have no clue about sorry.
