Title: Can animals be replaced if someone griefs in and kills them?
Post by: 360OLLIE on March 21, 2013, 06:58:41 pm
I've recently heard that even if someone griefs into your say "barn" to kill your animals, the grief can be reported but the animals, as joshskiiz has said "Unfortunately, they cannot be brought back to life." I don't understand this. If the "pen or barn" is protected or not and someone griefs in and kill them all, why can't they be replaced by and operators? If the owner of the animals had legitimately claimed the animals and they were killed by a griefer and cannot be re-breed because either 1 or no animals were left, the griefer should be banned and the animals should be spawned back in.

Thoughts?

This is about the farm, right? Yeah, I totally agree with that all.

I believe that the problem doesn't lie in what is right, but what is verifiable.

I don't believe that the server records keep track of where animals are, so it would be too easy for someone to fraudulently claim that their farm was griefed and request that their n animals be re-spawned.

This is why. Anyone could claim they had animals. Or hell, you could kill them, report it and get more

Actually, no. *sheepish grin* the area is to big and therefore too expensive to cover. My private farms are, though, so we can always replenish the animals.

I think that another reason why operators wouldn't spawn animals for anyone is because this is a vanilla minecraft server. We don't allow mods, and we don't allow cheating of any kind. So having a mod simply spawn animals for you when they are killed (which could happen in Singleplayer mode just as easily from a blast from a creeper) would be considered a form of cheating--at least in my opinion. I've had my animals killed by griefers on multiple occasions. All you can really do to combat it is to make sure  your builds are protected and try to keep up on any security blips.
