Title: Regional Chat
Post by: wingsnut on November 28, 2013, 07:08:30 pm
I know this happens to a few of us that even if we are in the same city local chat is just too small, so we could invent regional chat. This means if you are in a city and it says, "Welcome to....."  and you typed /ch r for example you would be in chat with everyone in the city. No clue how to implement this but I'm sure its possible, so be sure to vote if it's a good idea,

This is actually a very good idea. However, I think this would need code because herochat doesn't have any of these features built into it.

Could also be named city chat, protection chat, etc. but either way I too like this idea. To be honest, I don't know if it will happen though because like Mr said, this would probably take coding and our developer has been gone a while now...but I think opti can code too.

I could see this if enough people actually lived in cities but it would just be another channel to moderate for staff otherwise it'll mostly go unused.

Pretty good idea though, but ideal for probably very busy servers in my opinion. And a few helpop tickets would help to ease the moderation of channels I reckon.

Staff cannot leave channels so how is this a problem?

Are you saying every person who got city protection should get their own channel that will most likely go unused?

I think he means it's one channel (/ch r) and it basically works similarly to local: when you walk into a certain area, the channel works for those in the city.

This would take more coding than it is worth.

I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for optical to hook into HeroChat and WorldGuard to make this, but there wouldn't be a point to it since it's not a high demand.

No if there is a city, which ever one you are in and you do /ch r you will be talking to those in the city not a TON of channels!

Which is exactly why it takes more coding than it is worth.

Just use local chat, it should cover the entire city :)

not cities like stuttgart. i think this would be great to bring together people set apart my a few hundred blocks, yet apart of the same city

Its just like local, staff don't moderate it.

I'm just gonna take a wild guess that this would only apply to maybe two cities that are larger than a single local chat region so I don't understand why it is needed.
