Title: QR code
Post by: jlhscar on February 22, 2012, 11:09:19 pm
I was thinking that someone could build a massive QR code at the spawn linked to opticraft.net or opticraft.net/vote. Reply with your thoughts.

Seeing as most players are between the ages 10-15 , I doubt they'll have phones to scan this. Besides, it might not even work, seeing as it would be seen from an angle, and not straight on.

Still, takes more time scanning the code than to actually type opticraft.net on your browser.

I think the inconvience for someone to have to be in minecraft world on a device (obviously with internet connection), position their view so they're looking at the QR code DEAD ON, then get another device (or the same device) with QR software to scan the QR code from their device's screen just to visit a site they could type in the said device with an internet connection is a bit much.

Optic has intergrated a system that's automated in-game to tell players to go to opticraft.net like every minute so I think for players i.e. guests who actually care about opticraft enough to pay attention to the server's messages would be able to remember those 13 characters long enough to type them in a new tab (if playing in browser) or to simply open their web broswer and type it in.

To end a long post, IMO this is an inconventional idea....

Its not a bad idea, but its not practical to scan something in-game.

But again, would be interesting.
