Title: Flint and steel
Post by: Kian on February 26, 2012, 01:22:55 pm
So, I came on a few minutes ago and a guest asked: "Kian, Why doesn't my flint and steel work?" And I said "I don't really know" So I tried it and mine won't work either.

Help....

EDIT: All it does is light then about a second later go out. (I tried it on netherack and it just went out.)

flint and steal does not work because fire is disabled a.k.a so is flint and steal. If you would like fire you are going to have to ash an mod+

Wrong. Flint and Steel only works for Operators+. Mods can use fire blocks to make fire, but for other players they are forbidden to use.

Kian, it is disabled to prevent people to go set everything on fire, which is very fun to do.

That's why.

Also, another thing I should mention is that operators also cannot use flint and steel, something preventing the permissions thing I believe.

Wait.......so if ops can't use flint and steel......
Then i could be because flint and steel is used in some kind of plugin.
Like how string is used to define worldguard regions and compasses are used to teleport in Worldedit.
probably flint and steel could be for something like that.

I know this is a necro but it's on topic. Someone called jnewson (he has left the server) gave all his belongings to me before he left and he had Flint and steel with about half durability.

I'm pretty sure that if you use a flint and steel and it gets put out, it still affects the durability. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The flint and steel works, but the fire goes out a second later. Still works though. Besides, I only use my flint an' steel for lighting portals anyways
