I have a good idea that others thought I should suggest.
Item of the week, have a special spot when you first walk into the market that has an item display with a different item each week, could be and item on sale, or an item not normally obtained from the market (grass block, blaze rod, other items)
It would be a pretty fun idea I think and would be enjoyable to our members. I've never heard of this for another server so it would be something original. It wouldn't be too hard to implement either.
Give me feedback! ;)
-
Or an item on discount. Sounds like a great idea! :)
-
well.....this is a great idea! i love it and i hope it get's approval
-
It would be hard to keep track of.
-
Yes.
*Claw's stamp of support*
-
seems pretty pointless to me. it just doesn't really contribute anything.
i just see the semi rich people stocking up on the rare stuff and never needing to buy from players, which kills the already dwindling player trading market.
-
This is an epic idea, but who would be willing to change the item EVERY week??
not to mention the pricing

I would hope that Optical, or Nick or Relkeb got on more than once a week. Once they have done that, its a simple matter of picking a random item, and pricing it fairly fairly.

Well hopefully the item's price wouldn't be for the rich and could be easily obtained by the whole server.

Yeah as far as I know its a matter of changing a sign and placing a block if its a block type item.
-
ok, seems pretty easy now :D
I hope that this goes forward
-
AWESOME idea!!!
@Wratkie grass is already sold in the market
-
Do you mean an item in unlimited quantity? Or just 5 pieces lets say that appear a time GMT+0 00:00 and you have to be there to get it?
Or available for just a minute?
Idk.. I would prefer the server to work as it did before 1.2 and later to see what we are gonna implement..

it would be an unlimited supply for the whole week.

Bump for more support!

Supported! This is a good idea! Well-Done!
-
great idea, hope they do this :P

BUMP

Awesome idea just that everymonth maybe
-
I think every week would keep everyone entertained with it.
If it was for a month it would get attention for the first few days to the first week then it would just sit because people would already have enough of it.
I hope this goes through, even if I had to manage it I think it would be a great idea and would bring in a buzz of interest to players!
-
True but then admins would kind of need to become more active.
-
I don't see how they aren't active, they do a lot of work behind the scenes that you might not even realize, they are on quite a bit and could handle this if they think its a good idea.
-
I can see that even if Relkeb is not on, Nick would usually be on. If not Opti.
We can also allow Operators to help with this, they're on often too.
-
Operators don't have the required permissions to edit any blocks within the spawn, nor can we create the sign shops.

Seems like a good idea to let them do so.. I mean our Operators in SMP are all very trustworthy and mature, I'm sure they can handle this.
Not my decision, though.

YES!

I'd like to see weeks where the higher-end PS go on sale, like 20% off or something. Would make it easier for "lowbies" to protect their areas lower the griefing reports.

true, thats a good idea X

The reason they are not cheap, is to prevent access to the "lowbies". Imagine a griefer comes into the server. This griefer is 1 in a million, smarter than the rest, and realises what he could do with a ps. It is on sale, so he mines some iron, and buys diamond protection. He just has to place it, to screw over many people inside those 97336 blocks. See what I mean?
-
oh, true :P
-
Great idea! would boost the market trade right up and original ideas are always great to bring in new members!
-
...to screw over many people inside those 97336 blocks...
68921 blocks*
There is a difference
And that is true-- it can happen
-
how much does a diamond protection cost ?
-
It costs $55,000. You would knew it if you have noticed them. They are on the right as you enter the market.

While I agree that PS can be used to screw people over, the smart player doesn't build anything without dropping a PS on their "house" in the first place. I mean, I've got a ton of ideas for my little base of operations, and I've got the materials collected to do most of it, but I'm not going to build anything unless I can drop a PS on it before/during construction.
Going out and building a house without a PS on it is just asking for trouble.
-
I still highly suggest this suggestion :P
When ever time is right though.
-
I don't really care for the idea,
but if it is implemented make sure that you can't exploit it for infinite money...
Make sure the sale is still more than the buy back (if it has one) so no one invests all their money into it for a week to sell for tons more...
-
YES PLEASE! Great idea.

If its an exclusive weekly item then the week it is taken done it should increase in value making a possible profit for player to player trades. but there will not be a way to get infinite money.

I understand that but imagine that the item was a coal PS, which went on sale for 1,000 for 1 week
Someone with millions could invest all of their money into buying as many as they can, and then next week the sell back would go back to 1,500
with that you could increase your cash by 50%! (within a 1 week span...)
-
How about just selling items you can't sell :P For example, Slimeballs, Blaze Rods, etc.
Also, Newbrict all items are bought much more expensive than they are sold (With the exception of PS :P)

The problem I have with selling Slimeballs, Blaze Rods, etc. is that those items are very valuable to the player/player economy. If you remove the non-market-obtainable items then there will be nothing that the players exclusively decide the price on. Slime balls and Blaze rods should stay the way they are IMO, in order to maintain the player/player economy alive.
Also I'm not sure if I'm being clear on the idea of INVESTING on the weekly item.
Basically, if the item of the week is implemented, make sure the sale is still higher than the previous, or future buy back.
-
Great idea Wratkie i hope this happens
-
if theres a way, you can automatically set the items for the month, like after 1 week it would automatically switch the item
-
Nope. This isn't possible D:

Everything is possible with proper coding but that would require more effort than needed to operate this suggestion. so yes that is impossible (at this time.)
