A simple few commands could be integrated into the server to allow you to differentiate your friends text from other players, for example:
/friend add (Username) This would add the selected player's text to show up in a certain colour (to be chosen by Optical).
/friend remove (Username) Same as above, but would remove a player from your friends list.
/friend list This command would bring up the people you have placed as friends, along with an online/offline status.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could incorporate this into the server.
Thanks!

This idea isn't half bad. I still think a local chat would be easier than having a friends chat however.
-
Local chat WOULD be excellent, but if Friends chat was ALSO there, it'd be even better as you'd be able to see your friends text from any distance.
-
Regular chat is far too spammy to be honest. It would be so much easier if we can have a friend chat, so people could find what their friends area saying easily.
-
This is a nice idea, possibly friends in red so they show up? Or maybe something like this so it isn't too bright:
[Friend][Trusted]clawstrider Hello
-
I suggest having a party in which you can chat only with the people that join your party.
-
This please ,half of time i cant see msges for me.
;D

I like Salas's idea.
A party chat would.be good, so if you're conducting a business/giving someone advice it would be easier.
And when in party chat, all other chat should be muted to keep the list from scrolling.

Thoughs are all good, however I would make seperate channels, like Greif channel where people say there greifs, default channel, staff channel, and off topic channel, and also you could make your own private channels
-
There's a plugin for that, it's called party chat ./pcreate <name of party>
/ptoggle
Something along those lines, but there is one...

It would be nice if this was like the Diablo II friend system
/f a <name> adds a friend
/f m <message> sends a message to all friends
