Actually, I saw this on another server and I think that this is not a bad idea. You can be rewarded with money once you kill a mob. It is a good idea to earn money without selling things to the market or to other people.
-
I think this has been suggested about a week or so.
I am against that.
In order to kill some mobs you need to make some tools wooden or stone made. If you have reached to find wood and to make the tools, you can easily start digging around for materials. Then you sell them and you get money.
You have to consider that you begin with a 100$ as a guest and 500$ as a member, plus the protection stone.
I believe, it is too easy to develop your character.
I think I gave you a complete explanation why not to have that system.
An extra that just came into my mind is, that there are more important thigns that Optical and probably more who help have to develop for the SMP server. That probably would take a sum of hours to develop and implement it.

Ok, say a modification like this is implemented. What about the people with huge mob farms/grinders/spawners ? They ll get very rich. And besides its isnt that hard finding some iron or some redstone. I am not totally against it, but I'll have to dissagree here. :-\

MMO-related plugins are fairly heavy-duty, which is not what we're looking for at this time.

Hehehehe, I think it should be implemented. ::)

It could be viewed both ways. While it encourages players to go out of spawn and look for mobs (and pray they don't grief), it also gives an unfair advantage to players with farms, as stated before. Therefore it would help griefers by giving them access to large sums of money. I think the guest is set at $100 for two reasons, to make the game hard but not impossible, and two, so griefersdo more damage than they all ready do.

you mean "don't do more damage....", right? :P

You know how some ideas are bad, well this one was really bad. First have any of you heard the word inflation. This will make getting money way to easy. Unless they find a way to speed up the number of mobs that spawn most mobs will become very rare. those that own farms will have people coming in to kill you animals.

yes thank you

This cane be exploited in so many ways. Firstly, people who have XP farms will 'get rich quick'. They can then, for a price, allow other users to access to the farm. Those users will get rich, and it would go on.
-
guys they dropped the price of melons due to players exploiting the high price because the server couldn't handle the mass of cash being given out. IF this was implemented then the server would have even more money problems.
-
Against mobs for money. It's very silly.

Me too, though there was a server I played on that gave you less money each time you killed the same mob over and over, so spawners got you about $15 before you werent making anything

That's.. Actually a good idea, so that beginners can earn some money at the start.

Personally I think this is a bad idea. Why? Well we just got Melon farms nerfed, and anyone who plays on this server regularly knows that mob farms are all over the place. People will just switch from AFKing at their melon farms to AFKing at their mob farms and still make millions.
Not that the melon nerf has done anything, really. Let's face it, if your farm was producing $1M in melons every few hours, a drop to $500k isn't really going to affect you much. You just have to double the size of your farm with the profits you probably already have, and you're back at full production. The melon nerf is only really hurting those with small manual (or auto) melon farms.
