title.

Is there such a plugin already? If so please put the link here lol
-
How would this work, if one were to be implemented? Just curious.
It may be useful since we have a recent slew of auctions happening. An explanation of how it might potentially work would definitely help players and server developers understand the concept, and perhaps influence them to support it, if they agree with it.

I love this idea.
-
There is a plug-in, as I have seen it on other servers before.
It works insanely amazing.
Basically it's all about commans, like /auction itemname amount
and /bid amount
etc etc.
-
Its a great idea.
I many not be part of auction since the amounte there are unreasonably big, but I would like to use it for great quantities-deals..
-
This would be a great add-on. Great idea Salas!

I've thought about this, how do auctions expire etc?

I've thought about this, how do auctions expire etc?
They have a set time of let's say 720 seconds (common)
and like every 10-20 seconds or something it reminds (in chat) of the highest bid, and who is winning.
By the time it reaches 10 seconds it will continuously say the time in chat (sort of like a spam) until it reaches 0
-
If this happens I would have to suggest a chat channel specifically for auctions if the chat pluggin allows different channels. but this is a good idea, I have seen it before browsing a server in between 1.8 and 1.0 downtime so i'm sure they have improved even since then.

I've had a lot of thought about this, and heres what i'm thinking with the plugin.
How it works.
- When a player creates an auction it is stored under their name, each player can make up to 5 auctions at once.
- When a player creates an auction for an item, the item is taken from their hand and stored as an item ID. (Tools must have full durability to be placed on an auction)
- When a player creates an auction, the auctions are listed as: #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5, according to when they create each auction.
- Players use a command to bid on a players auction.
- Players use a command to view another players current auctions.
- Displayed on a players auction page is: the item up for auction, the starting bid, the current top bidder, and the time the auction expires.
- If a player bids less than the top bidder, they will get an error message. (obviously)
- Once the time expires for an auction, the money is taken from the top bidder and sent to the auction owner. The item is then sent to the top bidder.
Commands.
/createauction [hold item in hand] [starting price] [expiry (#d:w:m)]
This command is used to create an auction.
For example, if I wanted to auction a Diamond Pick with a starting price of $5000 and expiring in 10 days I would type:
/createauction 5000 10d while holding the Diamond Pick in my hand.
/removeauction [auction #]
This command is used to remove one of your auctions.
If someone isn't happy with the bids on their item, they have the right to remove it.
/bid [player] [bid #] [bid]
This command is used to bid on a players auction.
For example, if I wanted to bid on Relkebs Iron Pick I would type:
/bid Relkeb #2 2000 would place a bid on Relkebs second auction (in this case his Iron Pick).
/viewauction [player]
This command is used to view a players auctions.
(self explanatory)
If there is anything i'm missing, suggestions are always welcome. Any comments? Do you like / dislike these ideas?

I like this idea, it will stop all of then forum bidding topics.
Also if there was a Maximum bid placement option. So the current bid is at 700 and you would pay a maximum of 1000 you bid the 1000 but it places a bid at 701. and it will still be the highest bid until someone goes over the 1000.

I would like to implement something like this, except making it easier to buy items. Ie /buy <item> and it shows the auctions for that item, etc. Will look at that.
-
perhaps also nice to have a command that shows the newest auctions or those that are about to expire, so you can make a final bid. Also try to prevent ninja bidding, with which I mean people that wait until an auction is about to expire and then quickly add 1 more to their bid. You could make it so that when someone bids there is a new expiration time, dependent on the value of the item, for example, 1 minute * the value of the bid, so a bid of 3600 would set an expiration time of an hour, and 86400 would set the new expiration time to exactly 1 day. This to give everyone a chance at the high values items.

great idea !! ;D

Great idea . . however horrid effects. . When I used to coown KKRO we had that mod on our server for a while. . Noobs got to using it for spam and we would see things come across the screen more than the chat. With the amount of ppl playing on our server its best to leave this one alone. . we dont need chats saying dshock is auctioning one apple starting at 50K bucks . . lol or seeds being auctioned one at a time. .
