Title: Support Channel
Post by: Newbrict on April 22, 2012, 01:04:44 am
I think it would be a good idea to make a support channel with the new chat system.
This way mods can quickly and easily see who needs help and it would also be easier on the users.

/helpop......displays the help msg to the mods+ :P
but could be more gracefully done by a support channel I suppose lol

I know very well about /helpop
But it's not a very good system in my opinion...
That's why I am suggesting this.

Yes this would be a really good idea! Then you could get help even if you're not a member yet.

/helpop is fine, plus our special staff client also creates a tab whenever anyone uses /helpop so their is really no need for a support channel.

Whoa there's a special staff client?! Nice, but I think the support channel would be great for trusted to help others better.

I like the idea I guess, saves people in the global chanel from hearing all the 'help me' stuff.
But would people really use it? People don't even use the Trade chanel for selling, so I'm notsure how effective this would be.

Will be looking at this to see if it is really needed. as deekays says, people might not use it :|

I agree. It's a good idea. It will clear clutter from the global channel, as well as I noticed ops will just help them through the global channel rather than directly messaging them. I sometimes leave global chan during a build so I don't get distracted. When I need help, I may never see it.

The only thing I don't like about helpop is the lack of confimation you have sent it correct, it just gets sent off and you hope for the best.

Maybe allowing just the person that sent the helpop message see their own message in chat.

But, as both optical and xDeeKay said...

It may be useful, but you see some really new people may not even know how to use the new channel system by doing /ch global (or whatever). Perhaps, optical, you could put it in the automatic broadcasting message plugin. That way people will know what to do.
