Hi there!
I was playing with my best friend just a little while ago. He is only new to Minecraft, so he doesn't know many commands or that. So anyway, he was having trouble with a command, so I thought to myself why not message him the command. So I did /msg to him, but it said 'You do not have access to that command'.
-
Guests/Members should have access to the /msg command. Are you sure your entering the command correctly?
its: /msg [name] [message]
-
Yes, I tried again, and it doesn't work. I specifically typed it slowly...'/...M...S...G' etc.
-
This is how I would msg you
/msg bigbeno37 (then insert msg here)
-
Can a moderator move this to the 'Support' section please?
I am doing that I swear!

Moved to SMP Support.
What rank are you exactly?

It definitely does work for Members. The only thing I can think of is when you messaged your friend, you entered a command in the message that you didn't have access to, and it picked up on that command.
For example: /msg bigbeno37 /fly (it would pick up the /fly and you would get the 'You do not have access to that command' error)
Try /msg'ing your friend again but don't include any other command in your message, or you will get that error.

That's why. Ah, thanks. But why does the /msg pick up that?
-
It just does. Instead of saying like /MSG bigbeno /spaawn, you would type instead /MSG bigbeno .spawn. The /MSG would pick up the / command

Guys, why dont you use the local chat?
And, just to notice, if you press once, /msg name then it speaks only to that person. without /r.
If you wanna remove it, press again the /msg name

/tell playername also works. That's what I always use. I never use /msg.

/msg kascas
now chatting with kascas
1 cmd
works
/msg kascas hello
to kascas: hello
1 cmd and a message
works
/msg kascas /home
nothing
2 cmds
does not work
/msg kascas hello /home
to kascas: hello /home
1 cmd, and a message
works
just dont start your message with / then its fine

Just so you all know,
/m works too
most of my messages look like:

really short and quick
