Lately when i have been playing i realized that the mobs are really weak and does not provide enough of a challenge. The gawme minecraft has to main aspects, survival and building. Without one aspect we lose interest in building a super tough fortress or making diamond swords. It pointless. Because of this some of my friends have stopped playing and lost interest. It would be greatly appreciated if you could somehow buff them or make them provide a challenge. 8)
Thanks, ScholarSun

*Too
And the original intention for the game was just building. I see mobs as a way to gather resources that can not be found otherwise. In single player survival, mobs are a much bigger deal than in a multiplayer server

Endermen are challenging. Try killing one with a wooden sword.

I once punched one to death. There's a challenge.

The mobs are indeed too weak. And they are spawning rarely now. I donīt find Slimes anymore... Maybe it is a good idea to make a mob arena!

The mobs aren't weak, they're at normal. Maybe you're just wearing full diamond armor and have a diamond sword?...
Run around naked with a wooden sword.
I do find that spawn rates for mobs are extremely low, though. I don't know what's up with that.

The drop in mob spawn rates is probably do to the large amounts of use of the server. Mobs can only spawn in a certain light level. The first thing someone does when it is about to reach night is place torches. This helps see but also decreases mob spawn. If you want more mobs remove your lights.

I noticed an issue with slime spawning in general. Chunks that should have slimes, found by actually locating a slime, don't reproduce slimes as they should when you create a "slime trap". I'm assuming this is a Bukkit bug more than an Opticraft bug.

Yeah, my slime farm is horrible. I know at least 3 of the 9 chunks I dug out produce slimes, but it's only 1 slime a day...if that. I saw it mentioned in another thread that the spawn rate will be fixed.

The drop rate in the Mob spawning is due to something server-related that is being worked on.
We have gone through it before, and even the opposite way around. Where you'd get like 20 zombies and 10 creepers following you at the same time.

uhhh, this isn't in caverns. I know mobs don't spawn with torches around, but thanks for the suggestion. My issue seems to be on the surface, at night. When I go explore, usually to collect Creeper music disks, I'll only come across one or two single mobs, very few and very far in between. Again, at night. No torches placed. My home isn't in a very populated area, so I don't know.
--Edit; note, I just came across a thread in the forum regarding spawn rates in The End. Apparently it's a server wide issue that optical is aware of.

Mobs spawn, and you can fight them, but lag makes them slow. I've hurt a wild wolf and didn't kill me at all.
-
Idk if I'm the only guy who experiences this but when I get in a cave, usually there are twice as many mobs who try to attack me in groups of 10-20. Maybe they are increasing the spawn rates but this is too much :)
-
I dont think so
Once i went in to a cave and experimented. There were no mobs at all! I could only find one lame zombie! I think they should spread the spawning of monsters more evenly!

Wait...why is this in suggestions? Shouldn't it ne in support?

He's trying to "suggest" that they buff the monster spawn rate, as was said in his first post.
However, the question would be, why increase the spawn rate? How do you "lose interest" in minecraft just because the mobs are too weak? All I can say is that I don't want to turn around and be faced with a creeper. And endermen are hard enough to kill without mods. If you're looking for an action based game you should play FPS. I find that the main fun in survival isn't killing mobs, it's trying and getting all the resources you need to do other things. Don't forget, there's always the nether too. So unless you can give a good solid reason, I don't support this.
(You can always buy the different items that mobs drop from other people, so don't say that we need more drops.)

I have talked to Opti about this, And he said it will be fixed. He is a busy man and will fix it when he gets to it

oh i though Opti is free from working ;D ;D ;D
