"I'm from Planet Minecraft" Crackdown

We all have seen that video.

Recently, several people from Planet Minecraft(sarcasm) are joining our server and asking to be OP'd for their PMC Review(again sarcasm). Two days ago I had to tell 3 guests that it doesnt work on us.

I would suggest a major crackdown and maybe make this clear:

Planet Minecraft or not, we're not gonna OP a guest just because he asked.

Place a sign right in front of the spawn saying "Do not ask for Op right now. We saw the video too."

Here's how the conversation went after I told him that:
(G for guest)
G: hey I'm from planet minecraft I need to be op
Me: Dude. You have been on this server for a little over 5 seconds. No. We know of the Planet Minecraft excuse video.
G: ok you passed the test
Me: We're not stupid. Opticraft is a better server, we know you're just avoiding looking like you're stupid and you don't wanna  look guilty.
G: no it was test.
Me: WE'RE NOT STUPID. Do I really have to repeat it?
G: I just wanted to review the server for planet minecraft
Me: No. It's an excuse to be op instead of hanging out as guest.
G: I'm not trying to be serious I was just seeing how smart u were
Me: If you weren't serious, you wouldn't have asked.
(others jump in conversation, noob leaves)

We know of this, as we get many daily. We moderators have our way of dealing with this which is effective. A sign would do nothing, cause they won't bother reading it.

I myself haven't seen it, but basically what they want is get OP, and use World Edit or Creative to grief large areas (of usually spawn etc)

There's two good answers for this.
1) Say, "Hey you want Operator here? Okay sure! *Never gives them rank and wastes their time*
2) "No. We will NOT give you Operator. Build and enjoy Opticraft. Have a nice day."

You have not done that until you've managed to con one of them for over an hour and a half, while siphoning off their money, member and guest rewards, and all their items. That was brilliant <3

We usually just kick them and they never come back, if they are persistent I personally ban them for like an hour, and they still won't come back.

I simply ignore it. They'll give up eventually

I just ignore them, but make sure to say in the Staff channel their name and that they asked for Op so the other online staff know to ignore them too.

Had the same experience lately. We shut him down pretty quickly.

I banned a person yesterday because he was asking continously for ADMIN rank.
I explained him that he cannot take it.
He said that he is gonna hack the server.
5 Warnings and OUT.
Now, he is banned for a long,...long period.

I think people like that deserve all the belittling you can pile on them. Go hog wild, but remember to keep it clean.

I an so glad you brought that up. I am getting so tired of all of those guests claiming that they are from planet minecraft!
