i however found a mod to adjust the chat size, could i install this?

When in-game, or on the main menu, hit "options" -> "video settings" -> "gui scale"
Keep on pressing gui scale untill you have found the right size for you, I tend to use normal. This will change the size of your hotbar and crafting area but it is not a big difference in my opinion.

the numbers down there were me seeing if he was afk or not just testing to see if he would respond
