The English Wikipedia was shut down today along with the minecraft website. Google placed a censor black box over their logo. They say Google will do a black out too but I'm still not sure when. Remember to sign the petition that Google has for us!

Wikipedia didnt shut its site down, they just made everything redirect to a diff page. So if you stop the browser from loading before it redirects, you can use wikipedia.

You can also disable javascript in your browser, and use wikipedia normally.

As for the bill, it smacks of Prohibition here in the U.S.  It seemed like a good idea (alchohol is bad, etc.), but proved ineffective and difficult to enforce.  Even if by some chance SOPA does pass, it will probably be repealed just like Prohibition was.  Stuff on the internet is pretty much impossible to block out or censor.

It's offtopic, does it need to make sense? Anyway, this entire sopa-pipa story could get a 'twisting tail' in the end. The government with 'a thousand eyes' watching your every move. 'Trapped forever' in an unknowing society, with only information the government wants you to know. 'Time is short.' If we don't act, this bill will pass.
