Griefing trap
« on: April 21, 2012, 06:25:29 am »
Hey there!

I have been on the server and I have sat back and seen how many griefers get banned permanently from OptiCraft. So, my question is, how does it detect griefers, and how many griefers have been banned?

There are "protected" area's with shiny's that if you punch a few times will get you auto banned.

Or in smarter talk.. If you destroy blocks that aren't yours, there's a chance your destroying a decoy block placed by an admin/mod that will auto ban anyone without premissions to it.

Oh wow. That's a good setup. So the blocks can be anything, even dirt. And if a person does get banned, can he go on here to try to explain what happened (If they accidentally broke the block innoncently, etc.)

As far as I understand, all the traps are in locations that are apparently being used by another player. So it might be parts of a persons house, a fence somewhere, or even a gold block with a sign that says "Do Not Grief". More or less they made it so you have to go out of your way to destroy the blocks, there-by proving there wasn't an accident.

Also, if you ever glance at the ban appeal thread you'll see that people do somehow manage to make a mistake, and if you only hit a couple blocks not knowing better the mods/admins tend to give people another chance. However if you punch 157 blocks of pure gold in someones house, I wouldn't expect them to take mercy.

The traps are houses/farms/cool builds we made around the map. Destroying blocks in them results in a ban. It has a threshold, so if you break a block by mistake you won't be banned. It has banned over 2000 players thus far, and there is almost no chance for false positives.

I have to say the auto anti grief is a kick ass addition to the server, so nice one Opti.

Is this mod a custom one by Opti? Because if so, it is a boss plugin, and my respect of Opti would have gone up a hell of a lot.

It will shock you even more if you know how many plugins Opti has made for the server.
And yes, I believe it is custom made for us
