Go find some spawner, make an xp farm, then sell enchanted tools . It can earn you a lot if you are lucky.

get a mellon farm gooing if you have enough pistons make an auto one that you just press a button or sell potions or access to the nether

I don't know why people still use melons. Pumpkins have always been the superior crop. Although once you have an autofarm, it doesn't really matter. In fact, then the whole idea is a bit broken, in my opinion.

It's because people see the higher sell price and don't consider the fact that 9 melons = 1 block, and that for each melon broken its about 4 - 8, so essentially its 2 = 1 regarding the sales of the melons.

There are creative non-resource based ways. But the way I see it, If you're smart, and willing enough to make money, You'll make it regardless of suggestions or whatever.
If you put the effort into it, you will get there.
